PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Ionico 15 Review (R9 5900HX and RTX 3070)

Hi Barlew, yes, it is performing very good so far (writing from it). Please do note I am using the discontinued 10875H model, now they rock Intel 11800H or Zen, but things should go quite well as well. I've heard Zen3 Tongfangs might have some problems upon resuming from standby (I've heard like...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Ionico 15 Review (R9 5900HX and RTX 3070)

I believe DirectStorage is a massive improvement vs the same game not taking advantage of DirectStorage. I am genuinely unsure if the naked eye could see, in the game loading and progress, any tangible difference between 3.0 and 4.0class. Does it exist any video with such benchmark and...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Ionico 15 Review (R9 5900HX and RTX 3070)

Uhm, people says the new games will use DirectStorage and will use hugely the SSD speed. Frankly I don't believe our eye can be trained enough to distinguish the difference in speed between 3.0 and 4.0, but I might be wrong and them be right. However the Intel 10800H is a very capable machine...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Ionico 15 Review (R9 5900HX and RTX 3070)

Don't even think of using RTX during battery operation. I mean, you can, but your battery life will be like 1 hr or so. This laptop must be used in MSHybrid (aka Nvidia Optimus, e.g. driven by the iGPU most of the time) if you want to achieve the advertised 5-6 hour mark. So it's moot to choose...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Ionico 15 Review (R9 5900HX and RTX 3070)

I can answer to this: no. No Tongfang (neither Clevo IIRC) are allowed to take advanage to USB-C Power Delivery. They simply requires too much power and have this PD feature disabled.

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Windows 11

Regarding this: "If you do turn HVCI on it's important to note that all device drivers must be HVCI compatible so there is a distinct possibility that your system may not even boot afterwards" I can say that once you try to enable it on PC without proper drivers Windows notify you that it can't...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST New gaming laptop - advice appreciated

It's a very powerful laptop, you won't regret. The only special thing is its optomechanical keyboard. It's clicky and someone does not like it, but it should be above the others theoretically. And it's per-key RGB. For the rest, being equipped with Intel 11th gen, it ships with Thunderbolt 4.0...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST RecoilV and Ionico weird vent design choice\flaw

I might think they engineered this narrower intake area to use a Venturi effect: Given the same force of suction (e.g. same fan force), if the air is forced to pass through a narrower area, its flow will increase in speed. Probably they plan to have faster air in that part of the chassis because...

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Windows 11

A very nice video explaining the reasons why MS might have chosen to introduce a list of CPU to be eble to upgrade to Win11 and not everything Win10 can handle so far. (Win11 article starts at 2:58) tl;dr: the virtualization for memory isolation and other techniques, despite being offered by...

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Windows 11

I don't know if all comes to new defensive hardware strenghtening technologies, like Core Isolation, Hypervisor-protected code integrity, Memory Integrity and what not. I am not prepared to know this so the question: is maybe 6th gen lacking some of those techs while 7th and 8th gen got it...

Might be of interest oto anybody, but the PC Health Check app from Microsoft passed successfully on my Ionico 10875H/RTX3070. No TPM/SecureBoot issues here.

It seems just as a privacy setting. I am not a scientist of 3DMark but I would roam into its settings to see if there is a way to public results by default.

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Graphics setup issie

To be honest I screenshotted YOUR result link.. ;) I haven't redone the benchmark with the latest 470.xx drivers myself, yet. But I doubt it can screw everybody's result this way. It'd be replaced in a matter of seconds by Nvidia itself I guess..

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST [Ionico 15] Finally placed my 1st order!

Regarding Bullguard, I too would suggest to screw it up. Antivirus are generally required to enter far deep into the OS, so anything bad coded in them might screw up the system. Microsoft knows its kernel, rest assured Defender can't screw up or at least during next updates of Windows it won't...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST [Ionico 15] Finally placed my 1st order!

No worries you could not intepret half of the things. By seeing you wanting to open the laptop as soon as it arrived (to max air cool) I judged you were techie enough. It's fine ^^ I've PM you, however for some minor details. But one answer need to be here. 140W etc. is NOT the power of the...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST [Ionico 15] Finally placed my 1st order!

You're one of the first receiving a 11800H coupled with a fast RTX 3080. The one with the Ionico will be able to push to 140W max. Not the very max allowed by Nvidia (165W) but still nearer to Max-P than Max-Q for sure. Take confidence with the exhaustive Control Center, learn how to underbolt...

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Laptop performance issues

Answering here to not pollute the benchmark thread. Can you install the PCS provided Nvidia drivers FIRST, then proceed to update it to the latest? I've heard there are so many connections between Nvidia and the CC that in might be useful to first install the provided PCS one, as it might have...

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Laptop performance issues

You need to bench both: dGPU (when everything else is sorted out on that front) and iGPU during battery operations. Don't think the power envelope will be the same as when benched at mains. For my experience, any battery operation will cap the FPS to 30 FPS no matter which GPU you are using...

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Laptop performance issues

The Intel variant of your laptop DO allow Memory tuning. You could consider swap those sticks in case. But if I am aware, your Intel has one single stick at 3200 Mhz and the other at 2666 so, still not enough.. No manufacturer in the world can tweak memory tuning in AMD Zen laptops, it's not a...
