On live chat today I was told that stock of the rtx 3060 and the strix 3070 are better and if I switched to either of those my order would go into building quicker. They still said it would take 2-3 weeks to go into building though since there's a lot of pressure on their building teams right now.
On Monday I switched from a 3080 to a 3070 on the advice of a PC specialist. I believe their queue system works based on order date, which means I should be near the front of the queue for a 3070 since I am now on 43 working days (almost 9 weeks).
I was also told 6 weeks for a 3070 on live...
Whenever I try to access live chat I just get the message: "Sorry, no operators are currently available." I've even tried keeping the window open for a couple of hours. This is all during weekdays when PCSpecialist is open.
Ouch :( I hope the wait times start to come down once they clear the Christmas orders otherwise it may seriously be Christmas season before I get mine.
I have a build coming in a few months with a Ryzen 9 5950X (which supports memory speeds of up to 3200MHz), an Asus ROG X570 Crosshair VIII Hero (which supports memory speeds of up to 4,600MHz) and 32GB Corsair VENGEANCE DDR4 3600MHz. Clearly, the processor is the bottleneck in the memory clock...
I'm a baby compared to you guys. I have no idea why, but I keep checking the status of my build every day even though I know I won't see movement for 80-90 days...
I'd rather not. I'm a complete beginner to the world of PC hardware.
I'm sure it's not too hard but I'm assuming the fans need plugging in the PSU for power and the motherboard for fan control, and I'm sure I'd end up plugging the fans into the wrong pins on the motherboard...
Assuming I don't...
Thanks for the advice.
I'm keen to keep the 5950x for three reasons:
1) Running all the microservices is processor-intensive, I think I will make good use of it
2) Longevity, to avoid replacing it for a long while.
3) I can afford it.
In terms of memory, 32GB will be needed for the...
Wouldn't it be better to get two fans then?
That way there would be 3 intake fans and 3 extraction fans, but since 2 are powerful liquid cooler fans, there would still be more extraction than intake?
So if I understand correctly, the rear fan and the cooler fans extract hot air out of the case and the one front fan is supposed to intake cold air from the outside?
So I need more intake fans, since there's 3 extraction fans and only one intake fan?
