I actually amended the order to yours @Aza. 12 cores will be a good balance for both work and gaming I think. Plus it actually removed £29 from the order previously so thats awesome. Many thanks for all of your help @SpyderTracks @Aza @MrWilson you're all credits to this community and I'm glad...

Oh okay, thats very interesting as I had no idea, thanks! One last question lol Is there much of a difference between the ROG X570-F and the Crosshair VIII Hero? Other than the obvious of built in WIFI?

So this is a noob question but is the "normal" thermal paste good enough for keeping the CPU happy?

Okay cool. As this machine is a mix of gaming and work then something like this as a "final draft" build would be alright? https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/saved-configurations/amd-am4-gen3-pc/HJauVzeZDQ/ Again, many thanks for the advice and help. Greatly appreciated!

If the 5900x is slightly cheaper and still has 12 cores, would that still be a good choice?

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST First time AMD Build

Okay so assuming the rest of the spec is somewhat okay, what CPU would you recommend that is still very good for gaming too?

It basically replicates the infrastructure my company has via Kubernetes on my local machine and allows multiple microservices to work locally. Some are utilising really beefy third party libraries that suck up RAM and like quite a few cores to run smoothly without me waiting an age for any...

Biggest would probably be around 470mm in depth, width and height arent really an issue. As for monitor upgrades, thats more of a desk space limitation at the moment, hence the future upgrade

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST First time AMD Build

I'm honestly not too bothered about things being overkill, so long as its fairly balanced, decently future-proof and wont run too hot

Currently just getting back into the gaming world, so looking at games like RDR2, Warzone, MSFS. 32GB minimum would be due to my software development work that utilises Docker and that is very RAM hungry to have multiple containers running at the same time. The only downside is case size...
