What's the warranty situation with reinstalling OS.

I'm planning to get a new laptop. And as I would need it for uni I asked one of my lecturers for some advise on spec. My initial spec was fine, but he said to ensure that the laptop was capable of dual booting.
I currently run my desktop as dual boot win7/ubuntu12.04 with secure boot disabled...
