Thanks for that useful link. Seems suspend is sometimes problematic with linux.
I've tried several possible fixes (systemd settings etc) I found through that link but so far not resolved. I'll keep looking at it and will post back once I get a solution.

I'm planning to get a Lafite with 8Gb ram, the i5 or i7 cpu, and a single ssd of around 250Gb. It will be used with Windows, Ubuntu and VMs for general purposes, plus some editing/processing of large video files.
