PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Mystery Crash: Monitor Blank, PC Wouldn't Shut Down

Will do asap. No problems here: 'No component store corruption detected' Came up with the following: "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired them. For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Mystery Crash: Monitor Blank, PC Wouldn't Shut Down

Is that by looking at "View Update History"? If so, the only update I can see that happens on the same date as a crash was the one today. So perhaps not related then.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Mystery Crash: Monitor Blank, PC Wouldn't Shut Down

Thanks for the guidance, yes I see two files here, corresponding to the two times it had those specific errors (machine check exception). I've saved the files as you explained; it asked if I want to add "display information", do I need to select that option? Also, the same familiar crash has...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Mystery Crash: Monitor Blank, PC Wouldn't Shut Down

Hi Ubuysa Thanks for following this up again, much appreciated! :) I'm a little cautious about putting anything in the cloud (apologies for possibly unnecessary paranoia!) so would it be possible to message/email you directly with the logs? Having looked, I can't find the file...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Mystery Crash: Monitor Blank, PC Wouldn't Shut Down

Hi, apologies for the resurrection of this post after 6 months! If anyone is feeling generous and fancies a bit of investigation work to figure out the issue, I'll be hugely grateful! Some very similar shutdowns/errors (to my original post) have been repeating several times since I last posted...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Mystery Crash: Monitor Blank, PC Wouldn't Shut Down

Ah there it is, thanks! So no Critical/Error entries around that time in the Application logs. There are a few Error entries on the System logs. They read: "The previous system shutdown at 21:10:36 on ‎04/‎01/‎2021 was unexpected." "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Mystery Crash: Monitor Blank, PC Wouldn't Shut Down

Thanks for the reply Martin. So it looks like windows updates were happening the day before, but not immediately before the crash. Looking at my history, I think the last thing I'd updated was the realtek audio drivers (about 20mins or so before the crash).

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Mystery Crash: Monitor Blank, PC Wouldn't Shut Down

Hi This isn't an urgent issue, as it was a one-time crash which hasn't repeated (occurred about a month ago). However after much searching I can't seem to find any explanation of what might have happened - in fact I can't even find an account of the same kind of crash happening. A crash...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST New NVME & Clean W10 install.... Account Info?

Well on a related note to do with privacy, I wonder if anyone can recommend a useful (up-to-date) guide on retaining as much privacy as possible on W10? On the previous install I went through all the usual things to do with apps, Cortana, access to mic/video etc... even installed "Spybot" which...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST New NVME & Clean W10 install.... Account Info?

So it's the same machine, just with a new NVME SSD, would that be an issue? I have a key written down somewhere if that's required as part of the process.

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST New NVME & Clean W10 install.... Account Info?

Thanks everyone for the replies. So I don't have, nor want a Microsoft Account (if I can avoid it). I think Ubuysa answered my main query by saying that I can still proceed with the installation without signing up to anything, by using an offline/local account instead. My worry was that...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST New NVME & Clean W10 install.... Account Info?

Thanks for such a quick reply Ubuysa! "You can use the existing Microsoft account." - I'm not sure if I already have an existing Microsoft Account. I'm guessing from your reply that I do though; if so where would I find the details of it?

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST New NVME & Clean W10 install.... Account Info?

Hi there I have a new NVME SSD I'm going to use to replace my existing one. I'll take the opportunity to have a clean W10 install on the new drive, and have found some guides as to how to do this so am hopeful I can do it without too many problems. One question I have though is regarding the...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Boot Time SM961 M.2

Hello I have a new system from pcspecialist, all fantastic, very happy. Just wondering if I should be expecting faster boot times though. I have a 256GB SAMSUNG SM961 M.2, and cold boot of around 30 seconds. I had imagined this was about right for a normal SSD, but that for an M2 drive it...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Is it worth getting a wifi card?

Hi all I'm pretty certain just hanging an ethernet cable from my PC to the router will suit me fine, but as I'm buying my first new PC in best part of a decade I just wondered if it would make life a little easier going forward if I just went for it and put a wifi card in? If so, any...
