Yesa, Control Center is installed. I can honestly say that I've never opened it before. I've taken a look and can't see anything that might resolve the brightness slider issue.

Hi all, I have recently had the 4K display on my 5 1/2 year old Optimus 17.3" laptop replaced by PCS. Unfortunately, the brightness function key and Brightness and Colour slider in settings now no longer works properly, I'm unable to reduce from maximum. When the laptop is newly booted the Fn...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Illuminated keyboard not illuminating

Update: For some inexplicable reason the keyboard illumination has come on. However, it does still flicker when in use. I'm now inclined to think that there is a loose connection. Before I dig out my screwdrivers and attempt a repair... are the internal keyboard connections relatively easy to...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Illuminated keyboard not illuminating

Hi all, I bought the Optimus Series: 17.3" Matte 4K LED Widescreen (3840x2160) laptop about 5 years ago (April 2018). I've been very happy with it, there's been absolutely no problem with it, until about 3 weeks ago... The illuminated keyboard started to flicker. The Fn F4 button altered the...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Best gaming desktop upgrade option

Thanks for the reply. Having run through a couple of games with my son last night, it appears that different components are lacking, depending on the game being played: Minecraft is very CPU heavy, running between 95-100%. GPU at about 30%. Playing Spellbreak shows CPU 25-30%, GPU at 100%...

PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Best gaming desktop upgrade option

Hi all, My son has the desktop PC as below. He mostly plays games on it, but has recently been saying that it's generally quite "laggy". What would be the best option to improve his gaming experience? RAM is a relatively cheap upgrade. Would doubling up make much difference. Or would I need to...

Just want to post an update for anyone else that may have similar PC problems as above in the future. Apparently, the random speakers and monitor shutting off was due to a faulty motherboard, which PCS have replaced. Now awaiting delivery. Fingers crossed that all is now ok.

Attempted to install Windows via Installation Media... No joy! Everything was installing fine, until I got to the Microsoft Login: While entering my son's Gmail address the monitors and speakers shut off. Waggling the mouse got them back, but for only a couple of seconds (not long enough for...

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Faulty graphics card?

I've now tried a clean install. I still get the "The Device pages have been refreshed due to a hardware change" alert. It doesn't affect the display, as there is no user profile loaded, but does make me think that there is a problem as I wouldn't be able to load a user (Spyder) profile without...

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Faulty graphics card?

    PCSPECIALIST, PCSPECIALIST Faulty graphics card?

Hi all, The display on my PCS Optimimus 17.3" has recently started playing up. Despite lots of Googling, I can't get to the bottom of it. When using the laptop, after 10 to 30 minutes the tint changes (bluer). Then after another few minutes the display reverts to the correct colour (redder)...
