The Different stages of PC Specialists

INSERT by PCS:

status_guide.png

I wanted to post this to the forum so you can all see the real stages of PC Specialists, now please note we are a growing company and thats why some of the stages can be confusing, also please be aware i will edit this post with no notice on how we change as we grow.

Stage 1 - Pre Production

Pre production: This means your order is the que, we can only speed this stage up by buying a fastrack, generally it will sit here till funds are cleared or its next in turn in the list of builds we also take fraud seriously and as we run fraud checks this can also delay the order moving to building stage.

Stage 2 - Building

If your pc is showing building stage then you may have only a few days to delivery of your pc, but please check your account for stock warning's sometimes the pc might have been built but needs another small part to progress.

Stage 3 - Testing (my dept)

The testing tag is sort of misleading, at the testing stage we actually install the system and install all needed drivers with a win7 update, at this stage we do pick up on faults or conflicts, even if you orded no OS we still fully install and do this to make sure everything works, if we find a fault we replace the component no messing and send it to the rma dept.

Stage 5 - QC This is where your PC really gets tested, we run the same burn in-test as company's like Dell, toshiba and Fuji and all the big companies, we run the pc to its limits and try our best to break it (I will ask if its ok to name this software on the forum with links, its no secret to customers of PCS)

QC passed - expect delivery

My Pc failed QC? - If your pc failed QC, we wont ever release that pc for dispatch, the pc is returned to the testing(3) stage to be fixed and fault found, it will then go back to QC for re-test, if it fails for the 3rd time back the system will be fully rebuilt and you can blame me for it being late.

If your order is stuck in one of these stages for more than a few weeks then please contact our call centre.

Hey Zeplini

You forgot a flag status...which does not hold up any of the formal stages, but prevents dispatch.

Fraud Review

If you make a card payment online, it has the status of 'cardholder not present'. You were'nt there. We don't have your signature. We are at the mercy of the bank that issued your card and the bank that takes your payment. We will review your payment.

Most customers don't know that we review all card payments. If we can trace you, we have checked, but you will never know.
But, if the payment has a high score based on email, address, value, address verification, card history etc), or is not 3d secure (password protected), we might ask for further information.

This could be your date of birth and driving licence number, or a utility bill at the cardholders address. Anything to help us trace you to the card.

If we do this, please be patient with us. Most people think that if there is card fraud, the bank pay, but mostly it is retailers like ourselves. And we take pride in protecting our customers. By preventing the fraudsters, we keep our pricing low. Do you want to pay for someones freebie? No? Me neither. Please understand that if we request further verification of your payment, we are doing it in the best interests of you and PC Specialist.

No need to name the software - every customer will get to see a full test report when they receive their order. :)

I'm not trying to be awkward, but what about the 'Processing' stage?
On the orders page it comes before 'Pre-production', from the description it sounds like a bit vaguer version of pre-production, but it's tricky to tell what the difference is.

Guess who's been on that stage since I ordered it mid-week :)

processing is the payment going through the system and pre production is the system in que, if you orded mid week i would expect some movement on your account next week, as i said for stage one we do a lot of checks which can hold the order up a few days but we have to do this to protect our selves against fraud.

Ok thanks, I wasn't hideously off the mark then with those stages being very similar then.

yer the only thing is stock that really holds orders up, if you read other places on the forum you will have seen we state that components change daily on price, because of this we will carry lots of stock on stable prices or good deals, but something that changes day to day we will carry enough for week or two because at the end of the day we need to make a profit also, but this strategy can cause problems sometimes like the last few weeks we have struggled to get certain intel cpu's but we have to operate like this to keep competitive and pass a great price to you the customer at the end of the day we are competing against the giants- dell, pc world and the rest.

I think you guys should have, where it says administrator, you actual job title, or what part of PCS you are. Or you could just let us know in this thread. I'm curious as to what you all do. I mean the admins and mods that work for PCS.

Pre-production seems to be the stage the pc spends most its time, whats the ETA on delivery once it gets beyond this point?
