Hello there, Ive recently come into a bit of money and finally have the chance to get a decent gaming PC.

Im looking to get a PC which can run all the top end games (BF3 , Crysis 2 etc etc ) ideally in the highest settings.

I have a budget of £1000 - £1500 so any ideas and suggestions people may have would be brillant!!!

Thanks in advance

I'll try. These are configured in my opinion and you can freely tweak it :]
add screen or key board or anything and change cases.
Also if you'll want to have multiple GPU you'll have to upgrade the power supply

With or without a monitor?

This is just about as top end as it gets for gaming.

Case
COOLERMASTER CM690 MKII ADVANCED CASE Pick your own case in this price bracket and you wont go wrong this si just my personal choice.
Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™i7-2600 Quad Core (3.40GHz, 8MB Cache) + HD Graphics just about top of the resonable price ranged stuff, good enough for gaming
Motherboard
ASUS® P8Z68-V/GEN3: PCI-E 3.0 READY, SLI, CROSSFIREX Good Motherboard, room to add in a 2nd GPU in the future should you want to
Memory (RAM)
8GB SAMSUNG DUAL-DDR3 1333MHz (2 X 4GB) You could up this to 16 GB but 8GB is more than enough for now.
Graphics Card
3GB AMD RADEON™ HD7970 - DVI,HDMI,2 mDP - DX® 11, Eyefinity 4 CapableFastest single card out, can't really see any games pushing this one for a while.
Memory - 1st Hard Disk
2TB WD CAVIAR BLACK WD2002FAEX, SATA 6 Gb/s, 64MB CACHE (7200rpm) Could put in a 120GB SSD and a 1TB caviar black. SSD's are very quick but very expensive.
1st DVD/BLU-RAY Drive
24x DUAL LAYER DVD WRITER ±R/±RW/RAM
Memory Card Reader
INTERNAL 52 IN 1 CARD READER (XD, MS, CF, SD, etc) + 1 x USB 2.0 PORT
Power Supply
CORSAIR 850W ENTHUSIAST SERIES™ TX850 V2-80 PLUS® BRONZE (£99) Enough to add in a 2nd 7970 in the future should you need to
Processor Cooling
SUPER QUIET 22dBA TRIPLE COPPER HEATPIPE INTEL CPU COOLER (£19)
Sound Card
ONBOARD 6 CHANNEL (5.1) HIGH DEF AUDIO (AS STANDARD)

If you need a monitor etc then the above spec can be tuned down a little, even if you just wanted to save money you could drop many of the components down a notch and still have an amazing gaming rig. As it stands that is going to give you the maximum possible FPS but it is at the top end of your budget.

Come back with comments and we can tweak it as needed.

big thanks for the suggestions.

Mantadog im really liking the look of that setup is a standard size monitor going to bump the price up alot?

would it be worthwhile getting the Intel® Core™i7-2700k Quad Core (3.50GHz, 8MB Cache) + HD Graphic ??

Have you seen the 2 ready-designed builds PCS recommend for BF3? They on the main site somewhere. I would base ideas on those if I were you.

At first glance, this pc will meet ya needs really well :) Could be improved by adding a SSD, will give you benefits from a faster boot/start up, and whatever programs you install on it being very slightly faster at loading up. (games best to go on mechanical HDD) If you want to spend more i'd go for a i7 2600. But for gaming this system will see you very well for a good few years! also has the benefit thta you can add another 7950 for an extra performance boost.

I've merged your two threads together butcher since they were asking the same question and both had replies.
Please try to not double post :)

A nice monitor will bump about £130 or so onto that price. You could compromise the spec i posted and get a 7950 for the GPU (still a really quick card) and get a monitor. You could also drop to the i5, for gaming it's not really important to have an i7 and you should focus as much as possible on the GPU. If it was my choice i would have a hard time deciding which to do in all honesty.

If i had £1500 i would go with the spec tom posted, but add in a 7970 and a nice iiyama monitor. I have not checked but i think that comes out somewhere near £1500

To be honest, I'd go with a basic keyboard and mouse until you can afford decent gaming ones afterwards, rather than cut down on the specs of the machine just so you can have a spangly keyboard and mouse :)
Its a lot easier to add a new mouse than a new CPU :)

How much would a decent ssd set me back??

Well, the smallest slowest one (80GB Intel 320 SSD) on the configurator goes for about £100-£120 (the price difference it shows seems to depend on other options picked for the pc), so it's not exactly a small amount, especially if your budget is fixed.

hmmm intresting looks like i need to have a think!

Would it make much of a difference the perfomance with or without one?

It'll make a huge difference in times taken for booting and loading.
However in game it will make relatively little difference afaik (I could be wrong).
