Hi
I tend to buy gaming PCs pre-built (the main reason being I have no experience in building one and I don't want to risk braking components when installing them, which I have done in the past while upgrading - too shaky in the fingers so will need practice :wacko.
I have had 2 PCs in the past (pre-built) both have come from recommendations from PC Advisor and their Worldbench test.
I chose my current PC from CyberPower 5 years ago, using this Worldbench score.
I had a problem with Elder Scrolls: Oblivion shortly after getting the CyberPower PC, and phoned the game's Tech Dept to solve it. The guy took me through a re-installing process which solved the problem. He was very surprised at how quickly it installed (I was on the phone to him while it was installing) considering it was only a dual-core PC when quad core had hit the market around that time I think. He said this impressed him about the quality/speed of the PC for what it was. He had chatted during the installation process about how he thought I should turn down the settings in order to play it reasonably, but I found I could turn 80% of the settings up to max. and still have an enjoyable experience.
So basically what do people think of Worldbench as a benchmark for a pre-built gaming PC ? Is it a good marker for games or only for general PC usage ?
(The PC I'm looking at atm to replace my 5 year old Cyberpower one has a Worldbench rating of 203: Quiet PC Serenity Z68 Gamer Xtreme review )
Any feedback would be appreciated.
