    gaming laptop wanted

Hey everyone, it seems the site I have been looking for could be pcspecialist.co.uk

These are the 3 laptops the site has pre done for gaming. Il post them below. I would like the laptop to have 17" screen. I was wondering if you guys think i could get a gaming laptop that will play things like the new mmo Tera, current mmo's such as LOTR, Rift etc on highest settings..

£500-£900 (£900, only if we get accepted for the finance) also can I add insurance to all products as could only see one month option on these laptops.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Memphis,

Although gaming laptops have become a lot cheaper on average since 2005, they still cost roughly twice as much as an equally powerful desktop.

As your budget is up to £900 the Optimus II series would seem more appealing due to their low price, however your gaming performance would suffer massively.

The Skyfire II system is by far your best option in terms of price to performance.

I understand that you have set yourself a budget of £900 but I would highly recommend extending it slightly to accomodate the following spec:

    Chassis & Display
SkyFire:17.3" Glossy Full HD LED Widescreen (1920x1080)
    Processor (CPU)
    Intel® Core™i5 Dual Core Mobile Processor i5-2450M (2.50GHz) 3MB
    Memory (RAM)
    8GB SAMSUNG 1333MHz SODIMM DDR3 MEMORY (2 x 4GB)
    Graphics Card
    nVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 670M - 1.5GB DDR5 Video RAM - DirectX® 11
    Memory - Hard Disk
    500GB WD SCORPIO BLACK WD5000BPKT, SATA 3 Gb/s, 16MB CACHE (7200 rpm)
    DVD/BLU-RAY Drive
    8x SATA DVD±R/RW/Dual Layer (+ 24x CD-RW)
    Memory Card Reader
    Integrated 4 in 1 Card Reader (SDXC/MMC/MS/XD)
    Thermal Paste
STANDARD THERMAL PASTE FOR SUFFICIENT COOLING
    Sound Card
Intel 2 Channel High Definition Audio + MIC/Headphone Jack
    Bluetooth & Wireless
GIGABIT LAN & INTEL WIRELESS 802.11N CARD INC. BLUETOOTH 3.0
    USB Options
    2 x USB 3.0 PORTS + 3 x USB 2.0 PORTS AS STANDARD
    Battery
SkyFire Series 9 Cell Lithium Ion Battery
    Power Lead & Adaptor
    1 x UK Power Lead & 180W AC Adaptor
    Operating System
Genuine Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit - inc DVD & Licence (£79)
    Office Software
    NO OFFICE SOFTWARE
    Anti-Virus
    NO ANTI-VIRUS SOFTWARE
    Keyboard Language
INTEGRATED UK KEYBOARD WITH NUMBER PAD
    Notebook Mouse
    INTEGRATED 2 BUTTON TOUCHPAD MOUSE
    Webcam
INTEGRATED 720P 30 FPS HD WEBCAM
    Warranty
3 Year Standard Warranty (1 Month Collect & Return, 1 Year Parts, 3 Year Labour)
    Insurance
1 Month Free Laptop Insurance inc. Accidental Damage & Theft
    Delivery
STANDARD INSURED DELIVERY TO UK MAINLAND (MON-FRI)
    Build Time
Standard Build - Approximately 6 to 8 working days
    Quantity

Price: £930.00 including VAT and delivery.

    Configure Here: http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/notebooks/skyFireII/
NOTE: I would strongly recommend against downgrading any of the components I h ave posted in my spec above. A downgrade in CPU may bottleneck your performance in certian games and a downgrade in RAM / HDD would save you £15 at best which is completely pointless.

I realise that I will come across as being extremely presumptuous by assuming that you may take issue to this spec esxceeding your budget, however the relative performance increase you would experience over a similarly priced Optimus II system is rediculous. If you intended to use this laptop for as long as possible (given recent trends in games GPU demands) the Skyfire II would last 2-3 years longer than the Optimus II.

Please see the attached image for 670M GTX vs 555M GT performance comparissons. You may have to "right click -> save picture as" for the benchmarks to be legible, but here are a few examples:

    Modern Warfare 3
    Optimus II (555M GT): 27
    Skyfire II (670M GTX): 55

    Skyrim
    Optimus II (555M GT): 13
    Skyfire II (670M GTX): 33

    Mass Effect 3
    Optimus II (555M GT): 27
    Skyfire II (670M GTX): 54

    Crysis 2
    Optimus II (555M GT): 13
    Skyfire II (670M GTX): 29

Not only does the Skyfire II's 670M GTX double the performance of the Optimus II's 555M GT on average, but this can mean the difference on unplayable (13 FPS) and perfectly playable and smooth (33 fps).

If you are unwilling to exceed your budget by £30 then I would recommend opting for a desktop instead.

    Good luck with your decision.

Personally would get the arctic paste for another £9 and spend the extra £5 for the silver warranty

Indeed, I cut those to keep the price as low and as close to bis budget as possible.

    Thanks for the info mate.

We couldn't get credit for a £870 one so that's that out the window lol.

How much cheaper and better would it be for me to get a desktop? Is there a desktop and laptop you can reccomebd for around £600-£700? (£500 would be better lol)

I want games to run good, but they don't need to be top settings like I thought. Just good gaming laptop/pc

    Thanks
