When will PC Specialist allow pre-orders for the Clevo W230ST (13.3" gaming notebook)

When will PC Specialist allow pre-orders for the Clevo W230ST (13.3" gaming notebook)

Hey there,

I've heard that Clevo are going to be launching a 13.3" haswell notebook with a GTX 765M, a backlit keyboard and a 1080p display in mid July. This is something that'd interest me greatly and you guys are my favourite sellers (already got a P370EM and a W550EU through you) so do you know when you'll start taking pre-orders for the W230ST? I ask because I'd have to sell my W550EU to afford it but also want to buy on release so timing is crucial.

Thanks in advance

I would estimate 4 - 6 weeks for this model. We will also be bringing in another similar model: 14" with HD screen and 760M which will be a lot cheaper, as this model is quite expensive.

We can't confirm this at present until we have completed testing.

Would it be possible to know the resolution for both models?

UPDATE

The 13.3" model will be called the 13.3" Optimus V. It will have a FHD (1920 x 1080) screen and GTX 765M. However, it is not going to be available until August. It is not going to be cheap as it's packed full of top spec features!

The 14" model will be called the 14" SkyFire and will have a HD+ (1600 x 900) screen and GTX 760M. The price will be more competitive on this model and stock will be here in approx. 1 month.

I don't think so unfortunately...

What a drama! These usb-mobile-internet-thingies are SO damn annoying AND they look awkward. Cant cost that much to build in those internal devices...my acer 3820 has one and it's awesome :)...

It costs barely anything but the use of such devices is quite a small use case in the grand scheme of things so they tend not to be included.

I seem to remember (don't quote me, this is very fuzzy) that the 13.3" device had one mini pci-e port for wifi, one for msata, and then a third that was msata/USB and had the option of having a 3G card using that USB port. Not sure whether the 3G card is sold by Clevo or added by the reseller (polish competitor who leaked details early, won't name because competitor) but the one on offer was UMTS which we don't use in the UK.

We have checked the specification and what CampGareth has said is correct - there will be an option to install a 3G module with SIM card. :)

Is the 14'' a Clevo model as well or is it based on a different design, such as MSI?

Fairly sure it's not a Clevo, there's been no word of a model with that size/GPU, MSI sounds likely, they have their GE40 2OC Dragon Eyes which matches the specs and is a pretty nice laptop, been reviewed already I think.

On a separate note some of the first models of W230ST are now in the hands of a few lucky people, the 1080p display in those models is the same one used in the Asus UX32VD. Pretty phenomenal display, IPS with contrast ratios of 1050:1, matte, brightness is about 350mcd/m^2

However no one has yet confirmed or denied that this display will be used in the final model available to consumers and they won't until the NDA lifts (should be some time next week) so keep an eye out, here's hoping PCS will share that info with us when it's available because that's a gorgeous display :D

Another site has listed the W230ST for sale (which I shall not name) in the UK. I really want to order this bad boy, but I'd much rather order from you guys. Any idea when it will go up for preorder/order? :)

If you're thinking of who I think you are, note the expected arrival date, 16/08/13. Really hoping that's a typo and they mean 16/07/13, but it's a reason not to rush to order from them.
