Vortex IV (P150SM) - Drivers

This is not an official thread either from PCS or Clevo so please update carefully and knowing it might be not accurate. We (I) will not take any responsibility of a BSOD or damage to your laptop. But we (I) will be happy to help you in any case.

Hey everyone, I thought it would be nice to have a post where we can see all our research for drivers update, where to find them, Is it safe to update to last version, and more or less everything related to drivers for this laptop. Clevo website is not really good for support, most of the drivers are windows 8 only and since the Vortex IV is brand new it feels like nothing exists yet. If this thread is popular among the forum's community I will keep this top post updated with details you think are important. Enough talk I will start with what I know according to my computer spec but feel free to give your drivers/tips for your spec too. Hope this help.

This is only for Clevo P150SM / Vortex IV Computer

Before anything :

Turn on System Protection it will help to restore after a bad driver

• Open System by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking System.
• In the left pane, click System Protection. Administrator permission required If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
• To turn on System Protection for a hard disk, select the check box next to the disk, and then click OK.

Use System Restore

• Before you start System Restore, save any open files and close all programs. System Restore will restart your PC.
• Open System Restore by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button. In the search box, type System Restore, and then, in the list of results, click System Restore. Administrator permission required If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
• Follow the steps in the wizard to choose a restore point and restore your computer.

Where to find drivers :

• CD provided with your order (autoexe only for Windows 8 / Install manually for Windows 7)
• Ask PC Specialist member for a Pen drive for Windows 7
• Ask moosEh, PC Specialist member, a weblink for drivers
• Clevo FTP but last update is April
• Ma-Config Safe tool (used it for years) BUT it doesn't give you drivers certified by Clevo so be careful (especially for graphic card)

Graphic card drivers :
If someone has tested a driver for a specific card please explain :

• If it is from Clevo or Nvidia or AMD
• Fully working so far ? Yes or No. (add +1 to "Woking")
• Found bug ? Yes or No. (add +1 to "Bug")
• Your benchmark if you have one (Graphic only remove the CPU)

(No overclock please and 3DMark 2013 Fire strike only)

Following drivers are listed because either users have tested it and it is working or latest drivers available(from constructor) but not tested. Tested by users will be in state OK. All the drivers found are the result of drivers in CD/USB from PCS, search from Clevo or equivalent to P150SM

311.27 - Clevo : Working YES - 3DMark Score : 7982
311.66 - Clevo : Working YES - 3DMark Score : 8026
320.49 WHQL - NVIDIA : Working YES - 3DMark 2013 Score : 5296

Could you give the link please ? Can add it here to whoever wants to download rather than asking for the pen drive. This thread is more for drivers that can be changed/updated over a period and be able to have them all listed here. Drivers are a pain in the arse...

I would but its hosted on my site and I'm using forum members as guinea pigs to test the bandwidth and site stability as it is 3.9GB.

If you want the link to download them yourself I can PM it to people. Once the tests have been completed I will make the link public.

Niao, it's nothing to do with me of course but I think your idea (which is a good one) would be easier for people to follow if you modified the original post each time there is a change. Adding a new post with updates makes this a confusing thread I think?

I do update the original post all the time but If I don't post a new response it will look like the thread is dead (since it is not a sticky one). But thanks for your insight any help is very welcomed.

PS : Plus it would be easier to have control of deletion in this post to keep 2-3 messages at the time here and just look at the original post. But I am not a moderator

Ok, sorry I didn't realise that. It would help then if each time you make an update and post a new thread if you indicate in the new post that the original post has now been updated.

- Add some windows 7 drivers that might come with your PC
- List of known windows 8 drivers listed but not tested.
- Added so general good knowledges about drivers and safety
- Also discharge myself or whoever wants to help to any problem (sounds stupid to say it but I prefer to be clear)

Also in need of drivers have finally managed to source most of them manually.
Especially need the USB controller driver for windows 7 if anyone has it.
