I'll quickly go over the benchmarks for Battlefield 4, Metro Last Light & Crysis 3 (ultra & high settings) for those of you who don't want to or are unable to click the links. I hope it is easy to read.

PS: Before i begin with the results, the 850m is the DDR3 version! The GDDR5 version performs SLIGHTLY better (1-3 fps) in most games, in some games the difference can be 10fps+.

The 800m series is has a great increase in performance from the 700m series and that's without any performance updates, the 850m can easily play most modern games, probably at 1080p if you turn the AA down/off.

The R9 M290X on the other hand... That is looking really poor, I'm 90% sure it's going to be in the same price range as the 870m or 880m but just barely beats the 860m (but loses in crysis 3 :L). If they want it to sell, it's gonna have to have some pretty extraordinary updates to improve performance, or is gonna have to be in the same price bracket as the 860m.

I think you need to add the resolution at which you get the fps otherwise it is a bit misleading.

A lot of these benchmarks are from Notebookcheck, which is not entirely reliable... Considering that the 850M can hit about 32+ FPS on Ultra Battlefield 4 with x4 MSAA on Multiplayer. It's better to have people live benchmark rather than take a word for it

Someone's live benchmarks is going to be more reliable than a trusted site?

You'd be surprised. There is someone known as Gaming laptops junky who does his own benchmarks to compare with Notebookcheck. Some benchmarks do match whilst others perform almost better, mainly because he tests benchmarks with latest drivers and with different settings at 1080p.

http://www.gaminglaptopsjunky.com/m...ms-1492-barebone-almost-there-but-not-enough/ Such as this, the MSI GE40 Barebones (Which PC Specialist sells under the name 'Skyfire 14'). A lot of his benchmarks are just a tad better than Notebookcheck, especially the battlefield 4 benchmark among others
