5 day fast track?

More like 2 DAY FAST TRACK!!

After waiting a whopping 22 working days (possibly the longest month of my life!) for a laptop I bought last summer, I told myself I could not go through this anxiety again. Placed my order with the 5 day fast-track at around 3-3:30am Monday (yes AM! time sure flies when your playing around with the system configurator, deciding what you want). By Monday morning/mid-day'ish the order had been processed and went into building, by the afternoon it was built and entered testing, Tuesday (today) morning the QC was finished and it has been dispatched, to be delivered tomorrow! I'm absolutely amazed, although it's counted as 2 working days, from the moment they started building to being dispatched realistically it's only been 1 day! I now have a small sense of worry that it's been all too rushed haha, but I'm sure it's my own paranoia and the PC will be great :)

Well done PCS! Top notch fast track service :)

Indeed the service was excellent! But alas, I'm having some problems :( Started off well the first few hours I was using it, just installed some basic programs, skype, itunes, google chrome, etc, not really much else, but now when I switch on the PC the PCS logo appears and it starts loading up, but then suddenly I get 'no signal' on the monitor. The monitor works for sure since I've tested it on my old PC, tried different DVI-ports on the PC and all the same. Didn't know what to do since I can't even get to the desktop, so just doing a clean install of windows... Let's see what happens

Well after reinstalling windows, and putting in the motherboards driver disc to install the drivers, it required the PC to restart, and then the same thing happened again... :( restarted and then suddenly 'no signal'. Tried using the motherboards integrated DVI connection rather than the graphics card, same thing... Any ideas?

Make sure you don't have anything else plugged into the GPU (like a TV or anything), make sure it's just the monitor.

Also, you could try removing the GPU altogether and plugging direct into the motherboard, if you are confident in doing so.

Paigey, you are not alone, had to send mine back on Tuesday this week after a few days of getting it , best thing is call PCS they are really helpful and might be able to walk you through fixing it.

Yeah I'm staying optimistic! Didn't have anything else plugged into the gpu. Will try what Nathan suggested when I get home from work and reinstall windows without the graphics card, plugging the monitor directly into the motherboards integrated dvi port.

They were already installed. This is interesting though, I took out the graphics card and hooked up my monitor via the motherboards DVI, didn't even get any kind of response, the logo didn't even appear on the screen for a second like it would when hooked up to the graphics card, just no signal straight away. I then tried hooking up my monitor via the motherboards VGA port, huzzah! straight away turned on and active. It's weird how the VGA works but DVI doesn't, and maybe the graphics card is faulty too? Or maybe something on the motherboard is faulty causing the DVI to not function ?

Also something else to note, when entering the BIOS with the GPU hooked up, the writing and everything was huge as if the resolution was messed up, and I couldnt manually adjust it from the monitor - it wasnt allowing me to. I couldn't actually see half of the BIOS page because most of it was off the screen lol. But now entering the BIOS with the VGA, its all normal-sized and i can see everything!

what gpu have you got mate?

boot up the pc, with the gpu installed, your monitor connected to the gpu via a dvi cable.

once you are into windows, you need to download and install the correct drivers for your card, from either Nvidia's site, OR AMD's site. then restart your pc.

even if you have "older" drivers, you need the latest.

its a gtx 760, yeh once I installed windows (using the VGA cable connected to the motherboard) after taking out the GPU , I switched off, put the GPU back in, connected with dvi. It booted up (with a terrible resolution as is normal before installing the GPU drivers i assume?), went onto Nvdia's site and downloaded the latest (certified) driver, but during the installation of it, the screen went black again with no signal for a while, tried connecting up the VGA cable during this time and still nothing... Switched off the PC, took out the GPU again, connected my monitor to the motherboard via VGA, and its working again now lol. Will give PCS a call I think!

yeah it does that for a few seconds when installing new drivers.

Are you using a DVI cable from the gpu to the monitor?

like 5 minutes or so. put the card into my old PC too, switched it on, installled the drivers, screen lost signal again lol. Just got off the phone to them, he also said it was weird, suggested i'd install the drivers first, then connect up the graphics card. But it doesnt let me install the drivers this way, says 'the graphics driver could not find suitable hardware'

how long does it lose the signal for?

also, don't wanna repeat myself, but erm, are you using a dvi cable?

when using the GPU, it just loses signal almost immediately after switching on, during the display of the PCspecialist logo, and the signal never comes back then... And yeh I'm connecting it to the monitor via DVI. Got off the phone again and he suggested to find old drivers from like a month or even longer ago and try them.

Also is it weird that even when the GPU is connected to the PC, and im not using it and connecting to the motherboard via VGA, it doesn't work, but as soon as i take out the GPU, it works! Getting really annoyed putting in and out the GPU over and over again lol.

I've searched and it appears to be a common problem i think with this GPU (GTX760). I read from someone to make sure the BIOS has all the settings default, and read someone else updated the BIOS which fixed the problem. Is it possible this could help? I've never updated a BIOS before and have heard it could be risky...

Looking at the Asus website, the latest BIOS is 1101, I have version 1003... Worth a try you recon?

Was that other person on this forum and was it me? Because I had loads of issues and in the end a bios update did it. It was relatively straightforward :)
