Laptop advice.

I'm looking for a laptop to take on holiday, to college and other places. My uses will be gaming, Photo/video editing (not the main use. I just do it for fun), surfing the web and college work so that means spreadsheets ect. So far I have built this rig but I'm not sure if it's right for my needs.

How much does that come to because the Optimus V in the review section is almost identical and comes to £879. Might save you a few pounds.

Any recommendations or feedback?

The only things I would change on that build though would be the wifi card, which I'd switch to the killer card and upgrade to the silver warranty :)

The 765m is on par with the 850m you can get in the Cosmos II and the Skyfire 14", the 850m uses less power and due to this will probably run cooler (and obviously save battery). The Skyfire and Cosmos are both cheaper and weigh less than the Optimus, so my advice would be wait for the Optimus to be updated with the 800m cards or get a Cosmos/Skyfire.

Here is an almost identical build but with the Cosmos 17" chassis and costs £877.00. 850M will perform very similarly to the 765M as well as being more energy efficient (as mentioned above).

Came up with this.... It's £950 and I had to sacrifice the DVD drive but I have an external one anyways so no harm done. Does the cosmos have good cooling? cheers guys!

Looking at the chart on the link above it seems that 850M actually has a 12% improvement over the 765M, that's a fairly large amount and its cheaper and more energy efficient.

If it still outperforms the 765 then heck yea I'll take it :) I just hope it can run all of my games in above good graphics :/ (Minecraft, World Of Warcraft, Ghosts, Titanfall and some odd other games here and there)

Looking at the benchmarks on the page it should have no problem with those games on high settings. And for the price that is very good! Just a few years back you would need to pay £1000+ to get a laptop just to play on high settings. Nvidia's mobile technology has improved a lot in recent years

Looking at this rig now.. It's £1024 but do you think it's worth it? and would you say this laptop would last 4+years with not too much use (max 3 hours a day and I won't use it every day. I'll be using my main PC when at home)

I'd say it'd only be worthwhile if you added a hard drive and upgraded the GPU to the 870m

There can't be that much difference between the 860 and 870 can there? and also my budget is £1000 so i think the 870 would kill the budget. The 860 is already £24 over.

Id like a spec like this but with a backlite keyboard, how comes the 6gb graphics card is cheaper than the 4gb one???

thanks guys
