Laptop build times

Hey guys,

Just wondering from those who bought laptops from PCS how long it took to be dispatched after it has been build?
Mine went into building at around 1pm yesterday, so when do you think it'll be ready to dispatch (btw, it's on priority order).

Thanks, George.

Once it's gone into building PC's/laptops generally get dispatched pretty quickly, ie. in a day or two, so it could be dispatched today or tomorrow I would think.

Fast track just means its gets into building a lot quicker than it would otherwise do.

Oh right, thanks for the reply :) I gave PCS a call and the guy I spoke to said it should be dispatched today and if not then tomorrow (and I'll pay for Saturday delivery).

Mine was on a regular order, and took...26 days to get to me (not working days). Processing and Pre-Production took up about 15 days.

Not done any on priority so not sure how it compares.

im currently on my 15th WORKING day of pre production, 20 days overall. getting very impatient, but i didnt pay for the priority build, so i guess i get what i pay for

13 working days, 17 days total here in pre-production. I guess the fast track is definitely worth the investment!

Same here... ordered on the 3rd and still waiting a start!

My order was immediate payment and response email stated an estimate of "and 8 to 10 working days for laptopvorders." and the main web at http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/delivery/ still states 8-10 days. Once you have paid and if you dig in your account there is another estimator which gives a different picture - currently 82% laptops are dispatched within 28 days etc....

So.... in relation to....
.......but i didnt pay for the priority build, so i guess i get what i pay for

I'm not sure I would agree, for me anyway...

It is a bit frustrating, I have no real problem with the delivery time as I understand there is a lot of demand these things happen. However, if the 20+ day wait people are talking about for laptops was mentioned during the ordering process, as opposed to the 7-9 on the configurator, I would probably have paid for the fast-track.

Still very excited though!

Order #666269 for a bog standard laptop, ordered on 12/4 and now stuck at pre-production. Emails go unanswered. FWIW this is my 6th 'puter from PCS (either for myself or friends) and I've not received such grot service before. Suffice to say that this will be my LAST order from PCS.!!!!!!

I ordered mine on the 5th and was thinking similarly to you, but today it went into build. looking around the forums it seems they are quite busy at the moment and hence the estimates are way out.

Why not call them up? Email wait times are a lot longer...

I've had 5 'puters so far from PCS. All are A1 perfect. Wouldn't mind so much about my current order but the person who it's for is in her 80's and I'd hate to think she could shuffle off her mortal coil prior to delivery. PCS please note, she's a medium and if she doesn't receive it soon you're possibly for the high jump or haunting depending on her circumstances.

Taking Cramulators wait since 5th into account I'll give it till next Monday to moan again.

Just to give you an update, I phoned PCS yesterday to ask about an estimated delivery time. They said that they were extremely busy due to Microsoft pulling the updates on Windows XP, which is leading to a large influx of orders. My laptop went into build today on its 16th working day, which is about the average on the 5 day estimation table on the orders page. Waiting is the worst bit, but it seems that these time's are a once off... it'll be worth it in the end :)

EDIT: Also the 2 days bank holiday over Easter isn't taken into account on the "working days" on the orders page, so my 16 working days is 14 in reality, hope this helps!

That's a poor excuse (Microsoft announced EOL of Win XP some time ago, it didn't happened from day to day). It's also weird that they are saying different things to different people. I was told that the delay is caused by huge amount of orders...

That's what he said, there have been a large influx of orders, which was caused by microsoft dropping XP...
