Hi I need advice/ info/ help urgently.

Problems;
My laptop stared downwards spiraling over past two days. Anti virus has become slow/ non responsive. Access to internet has been blocked. Spam emails in email accounts.

And suspicion automated phone calls to my mobile about payment protection insurance, etc.

I cannot use Norton to resolve the issue and cannot download software from the internet.

Virus scan paused/ slowed down over these files;
Backdoor.Rustock.B
Backdoor.Rustock.A
Infostealer.Snifula.B
There are many other files also

The computer is a Hp Envy i5 running windows 8.

I have no experience with editing system files or removing viruses/ trojans.

I need urgent advice or help on what to do/ how to fix the problem?

Please help!

You could try running through a few different antivirus programs, see if they all pick up different things.

Have you tried accessing the internet from another PC/device in your house to check its not the internet that is slow?

I would consider booting the PC in 'Safe Mode' (normally by continually pressing F8 when you turn the laptop on but it may be another key for your version of laptop) and then try running Norton from that as it will just enable all the basic applications and drivers/software to be loaded.

Alternatively you could also try to boot the laptop in the same manner as above but with 'Safe Mode with networking' and then use an online scanner like http://www.f-secure.com/en/web/home_gb/online-scanner if the laptop allows you access to the internet via this method.

There is also some good methods on trying to get rid of any virus via this page as well: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/windows/how-remove-computer-virus#how-remove-computer-virus=windows-7 (it relates to W7 but should be similar for W8 as well).

I would suggest you go to another computer and download Malwarebytes Antimalware from https://www.malwarebytes.org/free/. Copy the downloaded install file to a flash drive and then install Malwarebytes from the flash drive on your PC. Do not connect to the Internet whilst you do this and run a full scan without connecting as well (so you won't be able to update the signature database). Clean anything suspicious that it finds. Then connect to the Internet and update Malwarebytes, if it updates ok then disconnect from the Internet again and run Malwarebytes again.

Also take a look at http://www.thewindowsclub.com/standalone-on-demand-antivirus-scanners, there you'll find a whole host of stand-alone malware scanners. These do not need installing you just run them from the flash drive or CD on which you download them. Most of them use their own OS so you don't have to boot Windows to run them.

If you can, remove the drive from the laptop and connect to PC using USB caddy. Then, purchase BitDefender Anti Virus 2014 (can find online for £7) and then run a full scan on the USB drive. once done, replace drive

I would scrap Norton when sorted and install BitDefender
