Is it worth it?

Looking at 4930k or 4790k - for graphics work/ some gaming...is it worth OC'ing?

I like the idea of it..but

will turbo give you the added extra when you need it?

Will the PC create extra noise/power consumption? want a quiet pc...

Whats best ram to use with an OC system...fast as possible?

are there complications?

Ocing does increase power consumption, produce more heat and therefor noise. If you want a low power draw, quiet system then you don't want to be overclocking.

If you can stretch to a 4930k the extra cores will help you for sure. Turbo mode is just like an auto overclock and will push the CPU as hard as its rules allow for that bit extra performance when needed. But it is no substitute for a 'real' overclock.

If you do decide to go for an overclocked machine then the faster RAM will help.
