Looking for a New Gaming Desktop and need help.

Hi guys and girls.

I am looking for a desktop pc to play games like Dying Light, Farcry 4, Battlefield, Call of Duty and most other games. I currently play on an xbox one. I am new to the pc gaming community and I don't know what specs I should be looking for. I have only ever owned a laptop for university work. I would like to play my games on a high setting, graphical wise (1080p) however I understand that it will come at a price. Unfortunately being a student I don't have a lot of money to spend. I have a maximum budget of £800 inc VAT. If anyone could suggest a set up, I would be very grateful.

Many Thanks,
Gareth

Thanks for the suggestion Keynes. For some reason I assumed that intel core i7 are the ones for gaming and that the i5 was not good enough? Would them specs be able to run games at high settings? Thank you for your suggestion :)

what makes the difference is the gpu not cpu, for gaming performance you can check benchmarks gtx 970 online

Okay, So that set up would be able to run most games on high settings right? Sorry for all the question. I haven't bought a custom built pc before and I don't know what I am looking for.

It should, you can check venchmarks online for the gtx 970 to have an idea regarding performance

If I could stretch to £850. Would you suggest adding anything else to that set up? Sorry for being a pain.

Also I think that I may have a spear windows 8 key that I could use for the desktop and are AMD processors as good as intel? as they have cheaper ones with more GHz?

450W PSU is probably not enough, I'd go for atleast 550w. The Gtx960 will probably run all you games at max settings @ 1080p, so you could save some there. Also with the gtx960 the 450w psu will do fine. And if you can add an ssd, that will make the system so much smoother.

Need help checking specs

After getting a suggestion from one of the forum members, I had a fiddle with specs recommended and using a promo code I can get this set up for £851. Could someone please let me know if these specs are good for running games like Dying Light, Farcry 4, Assassins Creed, Battlefield and when it comes out GTAV on a high setting. This is going to be my first gaming pc and I am new with specs as I have previously only bought a laptop for university. If there is anything wrong with this set up, like compatibility please let me know. Thank you :)

It would better if you stick to your original thread to get better feedback and not getting same or similar advice as before.

Okay thanks, does that set up look okay to you or would you stick with your original suggestion?

Not much change to the previous one, almost the same. I would go with a 550w or 650w psu to have more room for upgrades if you wish to replace the gpu in the future.

Okay thanks. This might be a silly question but how can I tell if the set up I have chosen will have a HDMI port? and if not how can I get one added?

Sorry if I have posted this in the wrong place, I used the forum link at checkout.

I would change the case the the Corsair 200R, it has better cooling and is the same price as the one you chose. Plus it has extra space for fans.

Also, will you be considering upgrading in the future?

The Gtx960 will probably run all you games at max settings @ 1080p, so you could save some there.

The 960 will run most games at high/ultra settings, but not all. And it won't for very long either. The 970 will make it last longer, plus it has more VRAM, which lots of new games are getting hungry for.

Upgrading in the future is something that might possibly happen. I have been looking at the CORSAIR SPEC-03 COMPACT GAMING CASE - RED LED. Is this case okay for the set up I have chosen in terms of cooling and future upgrading?

Or would you say that the CORSAIR CARBIDE SERIES™ 200R COMPACT GAMING CASE is a better option?
