Spec advice

Hey all, I know a bit about computers, at least more than the average chump, but am less knowledgeable about hardware. I'm looking to get a pc that will last me a decent length of time, able to run primarily games on high specs. So I've been looking towards the top end of things without adding anything that's going to skyrocket the price. So with that in mind any advice on things that I could do improve it whether that's performance or price-wise would be much appreciated. It currently sits at around £2100 =) Thanks!!

That is certainly top end, but the X99 chipset is really aimed at workstations or media stations, most of the power will never be used by any games.

Personally I'd say drop to a Z97 chipset, save yourself £500 and then upgrade again in 5 years or so after a graphics update (which you'd need to do on either build anyway).

Ah okay, to do that I'd need to also go down to a quad core i7-4790k processor and a Kingston hyper-x beat DUAL-DDR3 2133mhz but it would save me £300, would that still be worth doing then in your opinion?

Just for gaming the ram is also overkill. Anything higher than 1600mhz will also not be noticeable for gaming

Is it literally just for gaming?

Good advice above. I would also avoid the v300 and get any other SSD as it has performance issues, and for your budget I would build an SLI upgrade path to extend the like of the machine as far as possible.
