Pre Production, should I start to worry?

Hi,

I would like to ask your help because this is the first time I ordered a PC from this company.

I read everything on the webpage and seen they work with 8-10 days deadline. That was the case when I ordered my custom base PC too. The estimated delivery time was this week Friday which matched with my expectation due I really want to use it at the long weekend.

Now 9 working days later my computer is still in Pre-production stage. I know it's not will be with me till the end of the week, but I started to worry about what's happening with it.
I called PCS yesterday they said it will be in building status latest end of yesterday...

I don't want to wait one more week.

If someone have more experience, can you give me any advice what can I do?

Thanks,
Balazs

Please remember that the 8-10 days is not a guarantee or deadline, it is an estimate, sometimes it does take longer, sometimes it takes less time.
The T&Cs says they have 30 days to get it to you, most however will take somewhere close to their averages.
There is nothing to worry about, you just need to be patient I'm afraid

Hi there,

If we go over the estimated build time there is always good reason, stock, problem in testing and in this case a large influx in orders. Sorry this has affected you, this is why we put 'Approximately' before our estimation, always. As delays can happen. I am sure it will not be too long now, do you have your order number? I will have a look for you, Pm it me.

Never need to worry though! You will get your machine as quickly as we can get to you, and it will be worth the wait I assure you.

With the hope after Distinct help and with the "promise" that my order PC will be in building status at Wednesday I can't wait to open my order tracking page today.
The worst, what I seen not even surprised me... 10 working days (2 weeks total) still in Pre-Production.

What are the current lead times?
We are currently working to the following lead times:
Desktop PCs: Estimated 9 to 11 working days

Actual status, which updating every day, from the website.

Next Monday is a bank holiday. I know you said I need to be patient, but I'm afraid I will not get my PC even in the next week.
Unfortunately PCS answer never was accurate yet, as the status still in the same stage...

Unfortunately PCS can't guarantee when you will get the system and if you really need it soon fast track will guarantee that. The days indicated are estimates and it could take longer or in some cases less time.

I said you should get it Wednesday/Thursday. Approx still applies and I will never use the word promise so please do not quote something that was never said

Just because your order has not moved from pre production does not mean you will not get your order when predicted, pre production is the longest stage, the rest takes 2-3 days usually and we deliver in one working day. It is 11 clock and your machine could still be built today bare that in mind. I am not at work to check where you are in the queue but it is still a possibility.

I still predict you will get your order Wednesday/Thursday

I'm not said you promised anything, sorry if I my words was misunderstanding. I said you helped and the PCS guys in the phone made promise. Actually their "promise" was Tuesday/Wednesday next week but 100% to the status will change to Building on Wednesday (this week).

I'm still glad for your help, so please don't feel any negativity from my way to you.

I'm just disappointed.

Thanks.

I understand they can't guarantee the date, but then if they know they are very busy now, why they not change the estimated time to a more real one?
1-2 weeks ago they know they can't build a PC just with more than 2 weeks time but on the webpage they still estimate less.

It's great to have a system like this which help to the customer to see the possible time period, but if that's not accurate, it's not will be helpful.

Estimates , as far as I know, are based on averages of previous weeks. I see your point and I would be frustrated but as it says "estimates" it may not be as accurate as you would expect.

I appreciate the clarification, the estimations are done from a system that works out averages as keynes said.

I know you are disappointed but we come back to the point that this is why we always make sure you know this is an approximation and we cannot make it any clearer

And not only that but, if we keep having this discussion in this thread it will follow a pattern as it already is doing which is no good for anyone. But it will not change the build time sadly, as much as we discuss it.

But once again, I understand your disappointment. We do our best to avoid a customer feeling the way you do so I am sorry we have failed to do so on this occasion, hopefully your experience with us will be much better once you have your order.

UPS have lost my new chair, it is a nice chair and I really want the chair sigh. So I get you man, it is disappointing but sadly we couldn't avoid the delay :(

Yes, you should worry. After a few days I was told the laptop I ordered isn't compatible with the 4k screen I wanted. They offered me a more expensive laptop with a 3k screen and tried to get me to pay extra. Then after 12 working days I was told that now the 3k screen is out of stock (or at least a certain part for it) and AGAIN try to ask more money by offering the 4k screen. I declined, stating I'm not paying any more money and I'm not downgrading the screen to 1080p.

After 13 working days I complained by phone and was expecting a callback today... Nothing. Emails take days to get a reply (if they do)

I'm getting really annoyed. These guys might be PC Specialists but are by no means Business Specialists.

How on earth does it take two and a half weeks to tell me they can't build the laptop because of a missing piece? Is their entire stock control system written on a piece of scrap paper?

YES the 8-10 working day is an estimation, but it's a very misleading one. Only a minority of laptops (as shown by their percentages of orders dispatched) are sent out within that timescale. A better estimation would be 15-20+ working days which is a massive difference.

At this point I feel like I'm being messed around a bit
