Installing Windows 7

Hi,

I hope this is the right place to post this.
In my order, I stupidly left out any operating system; I have ordered Windows 7 and the disk is arriving tomorrow. PC Specialist installed a trial version of Windows 7 to run their tests on and it expires in 30 days.
I have looked up installing Windows 7, and it says I have to format my Hard Drive.

Here's the problem; I have a 120gb SSD and a 1TB HDD. The trial version of Windows is installed on the SSD, but it says I cannot format the SSD or else the computer will stop working etc. I ideally would like to install Windows on the SSD, but I cannot see how.

Many Thanks,

If PCS has installed a trial version you might be able to just enter your CD key (from the version you purchased) and it should work.

If not, the Windows installer will be able to format the SSD (your computer will not stop working) and install windows onto the SSD for you.

I think that message means you can't format the drive Windows is on while Windows is running because Windows can't destroy itself (I think the processes in Windows to format would depend on bits of Windows still existing and therefore you couldn't complete the format). You can format the drive while not in Windows. Formatting will be an option during the Windows installation.
A computer with blank formatted drives will still turn on and boot up a bootable disc in the disc drive (which the Windows install disc is), and you would be able to go into BIOS.
