As the title suggests, I am looking for help when building a laptop. I would really appreciate if someone could help me choose the best option for my budget (1000gbp)

I have looked at many different variations of laptops suitable for gaming, but due to inexperience I cannot make an informed choice.

Overall, is there any reason to get an i7 processor instead of an i5? The gpu of your suggested computer is great, but is the cpu going to be enough for that?

An i7 is going to provide more future proof for your build but if you can't push further you need to look at the combination (cpu and gpu) that will provide the best performance.

The Skyfire laptop is not for sale anymore, so I am currently looking at the Defiance 15.6 model. I will be installing my own SSD in it (250gb SAMSUNG EVO). However, I have to purchase a laptop with a hard drive in the laptop already (due to the requirements of PCspecialist). I was considering either getting the 500gb 7200rpm HDD or the 1TB 5400rpm HDD (wish there was a WD black 750gb 7200rpm choice for the defiance, but oh well).

Which one should I get - the 7400 rpm or the 5200 rpm for gaming (space is not that important, but still a factor) if I will be storing the majority of my games in it?

7200rpm will make a big improvement over 5400rpm, i'd definitely go with 7200.

I have been hearing some things about the Defiance chassis - mainly that it gets really hot during long gaming periods. Can someone with some knowledge about the chassis (be it firsthand experience or other) deny or confirm that?

Just ordered mine, but if there are any issues then I'd rather not skimp on the extra 100pounds and just get a vortex..
