So, help me deciding which Laptop do I need

... because I am going back and forth and I cannot decide what to get depending on my needs. And I really need a laptop.

- I will use it for writing, maybe some photo editing, some coding, watching movies, internet for sure, having music at the same time as I have many tasks open.
- I love to play videogames, but with the desktop computer I've realized that I mostly play adventure games, which are a bit processor heavy because of their engines (yes :( ) but I guess they don't need an nvidia video card. Also, dosbox, indie games, gog games. Anyway, I suppose that if I chose not to have an nvidia dedicated card I would say goodbye to trying Skyrim in a laptop, in case I wanted to do so. I am not one of those guys mad to get 60 fps at all time anyway: I just want to know if I could play the game.
- I suppose that if I don't get a 1080 monitor, I will regret that decision. Correct me if I am wrong, again.
- How much memory is enough? I have 8GB for the desktop one and that seems to have been enough for Windows7. Will I need more for newer Windows OS? Of course I am not looking of needing *less* :) What is the most memory consuming thing that I could do: video editing? Music?
- Again in the desktop I have a 120gb ssd and a 1TB HD. If I don't get an SSD for the laptop, will I regret it much? I can live without the CD or Blu Ray drive anyway.
- External sound cards are not needed I suppose. Anyway, seeing the lack of USB ports in most of these...
- Oh, yes, processor. I won't go for an i7, that's for sure. But I am a bit afraid of going a bit overkill with the i5 ones. I am a bit afraid as well of the laptop getting really warm, or the battery getting depleted really fast. I will assume, again, these are connected somehow, isn't it? Thinking about an i5 2,9GHz is maybe too much for a general use, or how is the experience with the new Windows10?
- Size. I am looking to something slightly smaller than my previous bulky laptop which is basically desintegrating in a box. Is 14'' enough for a 1080 screen? I am quite interested in the portability, yes.
- Keyboards and touchscreen, anything that I should consider?

In case this is too generic, sorry. In case you answer, thanks :)

Regarding the ssd or screen size it depends on your budget and personal preference. If you provide a budget someone could come up with a suitable build.

Oh, yes. For what I've seen, around 700£, more or less, and if I have to spend more I would. Thanks.

-if you're doing just occasional photo editing, 8 GB is enough RAM
-you should definitely get a SSD (Samsung or Kingston HyperX Savage) as primary drive for the OS and programs, and for data a secondary large capacity normal HDD
-no need for an external sound card
About the Skyfire IV:
-the 1080p display is great, I recommend it
-the laptop is more than enough for those games you mentioned
-but battery life might not be enough with this spec - I get about 3:50 hours with an i5 dual core and a 46 Wh battery
-the laptop gets very hot only during heavy gaming (even with just an i5 dual core - an i7 quad core might get a little hotter); for older games you could use the integrated Intel GPU, and for Skyrim the NVidia GPU.
