SUMMARY:
I am very happy with this laptop and highly recommend PC Specialist.

I have the same laptop but with a 6700k and a 980M and playing ARMA 3 with maxed out settings im getting 60fps online, and the CPU temps rise to 75 (highest) fans kick up a notch, not their fastest speed because you can put them up manually so i know what their max speed is, but the fans spin faster and reduce the temp down to around 60 - 65 then quieten down again and cycles this way continuously. The GPU sits comfortably around 58-63 degrees and the chassis cycles between 55 - 65 degrees. I am using CPUID HWMonitor to monitor all of these temperature. Also worth noting I have constantly got my laptop on Zalmaan cooler stand switched on. Laptop is super quiet, cooling stand is louder than the laptop. Hope this helps

I'm also little concerned about the temps.
[Link removed - reviews of laptops from other companies are not allowed] Here they hit 99 degrees without OC.

I too have bought this laptop - arrived today!

Have a question about the keyboard backlight. How do I set it so it's multi-coloured? It's just neon blue.

Also - how do I check the spec on my computer?

Final question - I have a 512gb M.2 PCI hardrive yet the total memory amount is about 480gb? I know there's pre-installed apps and software but it takes into account used memory and total memory. The total memory adds up to about 480gb.

Manufacturers will use 1000 bytes as being a kilobyte and state their capacity using this. However, a kilobyte in computing terms is actually 1024 bytes - therefore when you format a Hard Drive, the stated capacity will always be smaller.

For Windows I had to install the drivers on the disc that came with it. It installs a utility that allows you to tweak the settings. Haven’t got it working under Linux yet.

In addition to the 1,000 v 1,024 you also have some space used up for the recovery and swap partitions.

There is a tool to do it, there is a screenshot of it in the first post on this thread.
There is a download from PCSpecialist, I think it is called 'HotKey'

Not that it really matters but a kilobyte is now officially 1,000 bytes as the prefix 'kilo' refers to 1000.
1024 bytes is known as a kibibyte

Like I say, doesn't really matter but thought it was interesting

Thank you all for the reply and help.

It's been about 6 years since I used Windows/PC as I have been using the Macbook Pro. Served me well - until I dropped it..

Any top tips on how to get the best out of your PC?

I have just about the best spec I could get:

I7 Quad Core 6th gen (4Ghz) (6700k)
32Gb RAM
Geo Graphics 6gb
M.2 PCI 512GB hardrive

Octane users - I'm having difficulty modifiying the backlit keyboard colours.

Following the manual, it instructs me to press 'Fn' + '/' amongst other buttons for modification, but it is just unresponsive and doesn't bring up the menu.

The 'Fn' button works when adjusting the brightness of the screen and volume - but not for the keyboard colours.

The drivers were pre-installed by PCS and have double-checked what the drivers actually contain in the manual and LED backlight keyboard colours is not mentioned.

Hoping the original poster of this thread can assist if possible :)

On your system tray, near the clock, alongside small icons for volume, power etc is there not a program called FlexiKey?
It is like a greyish square.
If it's there, left click it and that brings up the backlight tool

I'm not sure - I'll take a look when I get back from work.

I have just read that I do indeed need to install the remaining drivers - via my old laptop since this one doesn't have a CD drive. I was lead to believe that PCS pre-loaded the necessary drivers.

I still have a small dilemma on whether I should swap this laptop for the 15.3" version - same spec and same price but with 4k res. Cannot make my mind up if it would be worth it yet.
