multiple hard drive confusion

Can anyone help (I'm trying my first PC order)? I'm looking to have two hard drives, one for fast access (the games I'm always playing) and one for storage (the games I play less often). What's the best way to arrange the following drives:

120GB Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" SSD, SATA 6Gb/s (upto 540MB/sR | 520MB/sW)

1TB SEAGATE 3.5" SSHD, SATA 6Gb/s 7200 RPM (64MB + 8GB SSD CACHE)

Currently I have the Samsung as 1st hard drive and the Seagate as second but my order is still in 'processing' so I could probably still switch things around. I don't know if the M.2 option would be better or if the order doesn't really matter at all. This is my first order from pcspecialists so I don't know if they'll just put it all in a sensible order off their own bat.

From my experience you get little benefit from putting games on a SSD (the load times are not massively affected overall) - however you definitely get a massive improvement in boot up times if you put the OS on the SSD.

Your SSD should be the 1st drive.

An M.2 drive will be slightly faster but I don't know if it has significant gains over a SSD.

That said, 120Gb will fill up really fast (games are getting larger and larger).

Thanks for that Steaky - it helps ease my worries a lot. I'll only have one or two games on the fast 1st drive and the 1TB storage should last me for a while.

If you are on a budget, the SSD will be fine. The M.2 drives are great but are a premium price at the moment. I would go for a bigger SSD. I have a few programs and a few games and already am over the 120Gb.
