One of the best games of the last 8 years I’d say!

I would tend to agree with you there. The previous remake they did about 10 years ago was poor in my personal opinion and it relied too much on "monster jumping out of hidden place" scare tactics. The first time you jump and cuss, the second time you jump a bit less but by the time they've done it a dozen more times it becomes a really tired mechanism.

Plus the game didn't seem to resemble the original concept at all well.

But the remake was really good - well paced, a good learning curve and a reasonable adherence to the original monsters with enough of a modern remake to keep them both recognisable but challengingly different.

I used this when it was the free alpha. Was kinda fun though very limited back then. Seem to have come a very long way - though I still won't spend a tenner on it as I'm far too cheap. But it's nice to see how it's developed.

Warhammer 40k Space Marine is free: https://www.humblebundle.com/store/warhammer-40000-space-marine

The single player campaign is good fun, with the main character voiced by Mark Strong and more hedonistic violence than you can shake a chainsword at.

I played the multiplayer a lot too, though not sure if many people still do. Might be an uptake again with the giveaway. It was the only multiplayer PvP game I managed to not utterly suck at once I L'd 2 P.:

The DLC / expansions for Battlefield 4 and Battlefield 1 are currently free on Origin: https://www.indiegamebundles.com/free-premium-passes-for-battlefield-1-and-4/

You can get the DLCs added to your account even if you don't own the base games, so worth picking up in case you acquire the games in the future I guess (giveaways, bundles, etc)

Also, Battlefield 1 is on sale for £4.37 on Origin, which could be worth it for the single player alone.

And to the surprise of nobody, Shadow Warrior 2 won by a country mile. And is therefore now free on GOG for 48 hours:
https://www.gog.com/#giveaway

(there's a banner towards the top of of the page where you click to get it added to your GOG account)

It's DRM-free ofc, being GOG
