Middle Earth: Shadow of War for £15.29 on Steam

If you can get to the product page that is, it's the summer sale start so Steam is basically dead right now.

Ok, so here’s a really really old game on Steams Early Access:

60% off in the steam sale for £6

Black Mesa: https://store.steampowered.com/app/362890/Black_Mesa/

There’s a point to listing this, a: it’s a fantastic addition to any Half Life fan, b: they’re redoing the game from the ground up in a new modern engine and the leaks coming out are saying it’s epically good!

https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2018/06/22/black-mesa-xen-nearly-finished-update/

The suggestions are that the full release could be around November 8th which is half life’s 20th anniversary. It’s likely the price may rise quite substantially once it’s fully released.

There was a free beta a while back with the whole game but without the "boss" ending and it was stunningly good.

I’ve held off buying it but for £6 it’s an absolute no brainer!

Started it again yesterday. It's just as enjoyable as I remember (but...I'd forgotten how tedious the waste centre (materials reclamation or some such) levels are. :)

It also shows how far games have come in many ways. Another aspect I'd forgotten is how you're left entirely on your own to explore and work things out...no NPC's to help guide...nothing on a HUD to show you where to go - not even an in game map :)

Still great fun though and as Spyder says, for £6 it's a must-have.

20 years...jesus....I remember being blown away by it first time round.

The half life series are still up there with the best games I’ve ever played, so good! One of the few series I’ll go back to.

Oh yes. I bought the orange box back in the day (11/12 years ago as well now).

I immediately fell in love with Portal even if it took me yonks to find out that the game wasn't even close to ending when it dumped you in the furness!!!

And I still play a lot of user created levels in Portal 2 to this day.

I love both the change of pace and the fact you have to really think about what it is that you're doing.

Fallout 4 Season Pass for £11.27: https://www.greenmangaming.com/games/fallout-4-season-pass/

Cheapest it's even been from non grey-market sources afaik by a long way. If you have any interest in the content (I believe it can be made to work for FO4 VR with a couple of hacks) but not getting outrageously gouged to death by Bethesda's obscene behaviour with recent FO DLC pricing, this is a good option.

FO4 GOTY £16.07
DOOM for £5.67
Frostpunk for £15.97

Not necessarily a 'deal' as its always been this (low) price and been out a while.. But I've stumbled on Hollow Knight and OMG it's one of the best games I've ever played. For £10 you can't go wrong.

Think 2D platforming dark souls.

Ahhh DooM... I loved the last version. It felt more Halo-esque to me than classic DooM so it played into my strengths.

I managed to finish it on Ultra Nightmare - it's the same as Nightmare but with permadeath. You die, your game progress is wiped.

Edit: I should add by Halo-esque, I mean in terms of character pace and weapon choice.

One of the best games of the last 8 years I’d say!
