Intel nuc suddenly no boot device

I have a PC specialist built intel NUC i5-4250U with a Samsung 256 SATA SSD and all of a sudden it won't boot, after a minute or so of the 'Intel Nuc' screen it says no boot device available.

I can get into the Bios and the SATA tab shows the Samsung SSD, but the BOOT tab shows only 2 network interfaces as possible boot devices.

Does this sound like a hardware issue? It certainly does to me as even with no OS on the SSD I would have thought it would register as a boot device.

The worst thing is it's only 14 months old

Hi mrirvs,

Thank you for your post regarding your NUC, I would first of all like to apologise that it has taken so long to get back to you regarding your system.

I have looked in to your account and can see that you have a 3 Year Standard Warranty (1 Month Collect & Return, 1 Year Parts, 3 Year Labour). This means that you are still in labour warranty for your system and we would be more than happy to get this back and inspected for you if you are still having issues. You also have lifetime telephone support with your NUC so I would currently advise that you give us a call on 03330 117000 and discuss this with our team, if they cannot resolve the booting issue over the phone with you they will assist you in getting this booked in for inspection.

Once again I would like to apologise that a response has taken so long and look forward to hearing from you if you still require our support.

Many Thanks

PC Specialist.

On my Optimus IV I also occasionally fail to find the SSD at boot time, resulting in the failed network boot message. Personally I think it's an initialisation and timing issue, though obviously if it happens all the time its a problem. If it just happens now and again I'd not worry.
