Windows 7 - How can I reinstall internet drivers without using the internet...

Hi, my names Jules & i'm pretty new to this whole forum thing.

I've recently had my PC fixed - which required a clean drive, which has left my computer with no internet drivers - I'm wanting to keep Windows 7 as I have a large scale printer that is only compatible with Windows 7 or lower.

- This is also still happening even though I have an Ethernet cable plugged in to my Wifi box.

Can anyone advise where to download these drivers? and if it's possible to download through a Macbook and transfer to windows?

Have a great day!

Jules xx

Hi Jules

What do you mean by internet drivers? From what you're saying, it sounds like you mean Wireless Card drivers?

If you go into Device Manager (not Devices and Printers - Device Manager) what do you see? Anything with a yellow ! or ?

Also I'd rather suggest that whomever did a repair job and reinstalled Windows should really have reinstalled all of the drivers. That's rather shockingly bad service.

Hi Tony,

By internet drivers I mean Ethernet Driver - none of the relevant internet 'drivers' are installed at all :/

Yes, I have sent an email to them questioning this.

I don't suppose when you got your PC, it came with a motherboard drivers disk, and if so have you still got it :), cos there would be ethernet drivers on there.

I presume not, but thought I'd ask just in case.

You are going to have problems if you don't have access to another computer. And even then, it's not simple.

Do you know what type of computer it is? Do you have a model number at all or a configuration for when it was bought?

I don't think so Rakk :(

Tony, I'm actually an Apple user usually, so I'm not so fluent in the software. Is there a place where you can find all this information on the computer such as the apple logo, where you press 'about this mac'

Thanks so much for your help so far guys,
Jules

If it's a branded computer (Dell, HP, Lenovo, that kind of thing) it will usually have a model number somewhere, around the back or maybe underneath. You can usually tell quite quickly if it's a branded PC as it will have the manufacturer's logo on the case. It may even have a serial number. Either can often be entered into the support section of the maker's website and it will provide all of the drivers.

If it's an unbranded PC made up of regular components, something like like free version of Speccy https://www.piriform.com/speccy/download or CPU-Z http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html (under the Mainboard tab) will tell you the exact model of your motherboard.

Hi Oussebon,

It is a Pc Specialist branded tower - the information labeled on the back is stated below:

Then you can either use Speccy or CPU-Z to find out the motherboard it has (then go to the motherboard manufacturer's website and download what you need), or if you bought it off PC Specialist directly log into your account (not the forum account, the main website account) and download the appropriate network driver from there, as well as get all the info about the spec.

Can I access Speccy or CPU-Z without internet access?

I didn't buy it off Pc Specialist directly :( It was given to me through University services.

This web forum is on the internet.... how are you accessing it?

Most phones can be used as USB storage nowadays, it's worth a try to see if you can connect your phone to your PC via USB. If you can, you can download the drivers you require onto your phone then access them via the USB cable.

I tried to download CPU but unfortunately it won't download on a apple software :(

I'm using the internet on my macbook, which connects to the internet perfectly, unfortunately once again i have an iphone so it won't download windows software :(

I think my best option is to get a friend with a windows PC and ask them to download what I need?

Thanks so much for all your help everyone

If I download the CPU software on a friends computer will it have the sufficient drivers for the missing internet drivers on my PC?

If you need to get a friend to download things for you, it may make sense for you to phone PC Specialist tomorrow, give them the order number (6 digit number on the back of the PC as per your photos) and ask if they can confirm the motherboard model, so you can just tell your friend to download the drivers for your system.

Otherwise you'll have to get your friend to download CPU-Z for you, run it on your PC to check the motherboard, and then get your friend to download the drivers. Which sounds like more faff. :)

In answer to your question, CPU-Z is a program that lists a PC's specifications, mostly relating to the CPU, RAM, and also the motherboard. The purpose behind downloading it was for you to find out what your motherboard is, so you then know what the correct drivers are. CPU-Z does not install any drivers itself, it just tells your facts about your computer. Hence my suggestion that if you need to use a friend to download things, perhaps it's easiest to phone PCS and see if their records can tell you what your motherboard is.
