Absolutely powerful. The witcher III running so smoothly I can't even distinguish reality from fiction.
Apart from the system which is nice and stable, I've noticed some minor light leaking on the screen which is barely visible.
(I think is not the first time in this forum that someone is complaining about that problem)
Plus my touch pad can't be disabled, not even with the dedicated keyboard-mouse app (which is nice) or using the FN+F1 combo
or by unistalling it from the control panel!
Very nice audio speakers+subwoofers.
The rest is perfect. Thank you Pc specialist!
Now send me your usb 3.0 pendrive you promise me :D:D:D

I can't remember exactly but you either need to re-install the Control Centre app or the Synaptics TouchPad driver to get the disable functionality. Initially mine wouldn't disable either, I wasn't that worried about it just curious. I reformatted a few times and in doing so found that once all the drivers and programs were installed correctly it worked like a charm.

I was hoping to disable the mouse on the laptop too.
I remember some drivers for the laptop mouse auto disabling on an external mouse.

I have not been able to upgrade the synaptics laptop mouse driver.
I am on Windows 8.1.

Can anyone advise ?

Where did you download the driver from?

I think it was from the drivers section here and from synaptic and from Clevo themselves ? I'm struggling to remember as it was a while ago now.
If you have a link to a driver then thats great...

I've updated this post to say I am downloading from Clevo now. Will see how that goes...

Not sure. I would be surprised though as it worked fine with Windows 7 for me.

Try this...

Uninstall the touchpad if it's in the control panel (add/remove programs).
Uninstall Control Center(sic)
Reboot the laptop
Install the Synaptics Driver
Install Control Center

Thanks for the advice and instructions.

I found an old (ish) Alps driver: TouchPad_ALPS_8.100.2020.112_W8x64U_A

I did a force install with this driver. The mouse driver loaded with no trouble and now has the laptop mouse auto-disabled.
Voila !

Thank you again The_Scotster.

I spoke too soon.

The Alps drivers went on, start ok and 'report' that they are doing as told.
In actuality, the driver is not switching off the trackpad, although its 'reported' it has.

I'm giving up for now... but eyes and ears are open for other ideas...

Did you try what I said?

Hi The_Scotster.

I have done as you suggested. Control Center is nowhere to be seen.
There are no drivers for the mouse installed.
The Clevo Synaptics Drivers at their official driver release site are for Windows 10.

So I went to synaptics themselves and downloaded the specific driver for Win8 64bit.
Setup fails to detect the device. A forced install with the driver complains about missing 3rd Party INF information.

Had no joy so far.

That's really strange. Did you install Windows etc yourself? The Win10 download on the Clevo website is the one that you want. It's the one I used for Win7 also, it should work fine with Win8.

I tried the win10 drivers at clevo and the win10 drivers from PCS.

All failed. I'm wondering if this installation of W8.1 Pro is a problem. Who knows :-S

I have hacked around with INF files before now to get webcams working with different drivers.

I may play about with that and see how much progress I make.

Excellent advice though The_Scotster...

I noticed this in the INF file for the synaptics driver.

[SynMfg.NTamd64]
%PS2.SynCompatibleDeviceDesc% = Clevo1200PS2_Inst,*SYN0002
%PS2.SynCompatibleDeviceDesc% = Clevo1200PS2_Inst,*SYN1200

The device ID in this machine would mean the addition of this descriptor...
%PS2.SynCompatibleDeviceDesc% = Clevo1200PS2_Inst,*SYN1220

If I add that device descriptor it does go further, but the catalog needs to be 'exposed' to the device ID too.
If I could edit SynTP.cat, I could get it further still.

I think my brain is going to explode, so will leave this to the experts for now.

My device is SYN1220 also but I don't require any changes at all in the file.

I'm not really sure what's going on with your system to be honest. Without having it in front of me it's very difficult to trace the issue.

If it's of any help to you, there is a Win8.wav file in the install so it should definitely be compatible.
