Hi all

My first post here (yay).

First of all, here are my specs for my brand new OPTIMUS VIII:

Chassis and display: Optimus Series: 17.3" Matte Full HD IPS LED Widescreen (1920x1080)
CPU: Intel® Core™ i5 Quad Core Processor 7300HQ (2.5GHz, 3.5GHz Turbo)
Memory: 12GB HyperX IMPACT 2133MHz SODIMM DDR4 (1 x 8GB, 1 x 4GB)
Graphics: NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1050 Ti - 4.0GB GDDR5 Video RAM - DirectX® 12.1
Hard drive 1: 128GB INTEL® 600p M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (upto 770MB/sR | 450MB/sW) (used for OS and programs)
Hard drive 2: I added a Samsung Evo 500 GB SATA SSD on the 2.5 '' bay. (used for games and everything else)

Other things worthy of note are the backlit keyboard, 4 USB ports (including one Type C USB 3.1 - NICE) and that's about it really.

Story behind this purchase:
I love playing videogames, and the pc has always been my platform of choice. Lately my laptop was becoming sluggish, so I sold it and decided to get a new laptop for gaming.

The key features of this laptop would be:
- Cheap'ish (below 1000 GBP)
- Capable of running the games I usually play (currently WOW, Rocket League, Tomb Raider, that sort of stuff) with good performance
- Would last me a few years.

I ended up choosing PCSpecialist, because for the same price, I could get a better GPU (GTX 1050 TI 4GB instead of a regular GTX 1050 2GB) and a better M.2 SSD. Other brands like HP, DELL, etc, offered better CPU's (not required for gaming) and worse GPU, RAM, screen and Hard drive (bigger but traditional mechanical drive).

Additionally, the reason why I will always prefer PCSpecialist to any mainstream computer brand, is because we can expect better value and a better customer experience, as opposed to with the bigger brands who have huge overheads and therefore less value on their products.

Experience so far:
The laptop meets all expectations. It runs all my games smoothly (definitely a great choice that 1050 TI), multi tasks well, and doesn't get too hot. So far I use high/very high/ultra settings and all games are on or above 60 FPS, which is what you'd want really.
A word on the chassis. I was really surprised. Great quality chassis from Clevo. Great choice there for PCSpecialist.

For those wondering about my setup, here's an explanation.

I am a married man. And I like to spend a lot of time playing video games. Initially I played them in my man cave (my wife calls it an office), but she was starting to complain about the lack of atention, because I can spend hours playing. So I decided I was going to play video games, conformably seated next to my wife in the living room couch. For that, I had to build my own couch gaming rig, which I built out from a cut out piece of plywood, 1 Yoga block cut in half diagonally for the inclination, and an AUKEY mouse pad. I'm still working on it (Cable management, I know), but the results are pretty satisfactory.

I hope you like it.
