Ultimate Video Editing PC

Looking to set up a PC for video editing (HD video) with a budget of around £2000. Be grateful for ideas, especially in the area of graphics card. Should I go for a gaming machine, are they set up better for this work? Would prefer All In One as portability is vital, but need large screen as it for group use.
Thanks

I wouldn't worry too much about the gamer tag - I think it's principally for marketing but the hardware is just mainstream consumer hardware.

If you need the portability then you need the portability, but it's worth being aware of the drawbacks. For one thing, the AIOs are limited to the Intel quad core Kaby Lakes. A multicore AMD Ryzen or Intel Extreme build could offer getting on for twice the performance for video rendering. The AIOs may also be louder and hotter under load. Storage options are more limited and upgrading may not be as straightforward. Also, the only AIO chassis to support very high end GPUs is the 34" fusion curve, which is expensive beyond your budget for a balanced spec. It's also the only AIO chassis to support the 7700k which is a reasonable dollop faster than the 7700 without the k.

None of them have optical drive bays, which means you need to use an external dvd/blu ray drive if you need to burn things to disc. That's not a disaster, but it does slightly undermine the portability element or at least add more faff.

That said, the i7 7700k is a powerful CPU and depending on what you already have could well be a substantial upgrade.

If we're ruling out the Fusion Curve for budget reasons that means about the best AIO you can get here is:

One option to consider might be a small form factor PC, which would at least give you more storage options, scope for a vastly more powerful GPU, and probably handle temps better.

And if you accidentally smash the screen, or if it stops working, at least it's only a monitor as opposed to the chassis of the entire PC.

Leaving you ~£270 for a monitor. There seem to be some 32" monitors available for that.

Hi, what can I say other than a huge thank you, what a great response, I am going away to read up on these now, as well as the components you suggest, once again, many thanks, Dave
