Cosmos VI Motherboard upgrade

So *cracks knuckles* once the warranty of my sister's machine runs out (base model Cosmos VI with M.2 SSD) I am thinking about swapping an Optimus VIII motherboard into it, then she will have a Quadcore CPU and Pascal graphics.
I have already seen one compatibility issue though, the VGA port on the Cosmos VI is 2x MINI-DP on the Optimus, so I will have to bite away at the chassis :(
so is there any internal differences between the two, like cooling, the two clevo models btw are CLEVO N850HN and CLEVO N850HJ

Also another question.... if I buy a motherboard from a different site then does it work (is there any PCSpecialist only stuff under the bonnet)?

I don't think it is possible. How are you checking compatibility? power requirements? I would also assume that the cooling is different. A laptop motherboard is going to be expensive and you may as well buy a new laptop and transfer the ram and HDD.

look at the Optimus and the Cosmos on the website, the exterior is identical apart from the VGA port being two MINI-DP
also I probably wont be able to get a clevo motherboard because there is zero information out there

I wouldn't be able to tell just by looking at the exterior of a chassis if a different motherboard can fit in.

Cooling, cooling, cooling.

Laptops are notoriously difficult to cool, especially when working hard. Most laptop internals are designed with cooling airflow in mind and if you do what you propose I predict cooling issues even if everything else works out.

Don't do it would be my advice.
