Cosmos - My new laptop

Hi guys, it's our boi Leonidas back at it again with another review...

Thought I would post about my new laptop, as PC Specialist said they would give me a free USB pen drive if I did, and I am sucker for that free stuff...

Bought a Cosmos, which I will use mainly for software development. Needed to get something with a bit of power, that didn't break the bank, and PC Specialist knew exactly what I was talking about. Got enticed in by their tasty specs, and then just configured it how I wanted to make it finger licking good. Real juicy.

Salient parts of the spec are:

  • Intel i7 Quad Core Processor 7700HQ
  • 16GB Corsair VENGEANCE 2400MHz SODIMM DDR4
  • INTEL HD GRAPHICS 630 - 1.7GB Max DDR4 Video RAM - DirectX® 12
  • 256GB SAMSUNG PM961 M.2

Pretty spicy for what I need it for, and it's all in a laptop which makes it a bit fruity, too. Back of the net.

I used to have a MacBook pro, and there is no point me jive talking you to tell you that this is comparable in terms of the build quality. Apple know what they are doing when it comes to building stuff, and this seems a bit cheap in comparison, probably because it is...but in terms of whats going on under the hood, this thing has the old MacBook Pro smoked, the difference is night and day.

I added a second 2.5" SSD myself, getting the case apart was a bit hairy, you have to give it a bit of persuasion, which isn't the nicest of feelings when the laptop is a day old, but I am a maverick and got right in the middle of it, came out with the W and celebrated by taking the mandem out for a cheeky nandos.

Here's some pics I was told to post to get that free stuff.

Only thing I will mention is that the fans kick off sometimes, even when I am doing nothing on it. Not a massive issue, at the moment....

I would give the PC and the service from PC Specialist the perfect 5/7
