Laptop like "The 13.3" Lafité III" with Kaby Lake Refresh

I like The 13.3" Lafité III. Well, I haven't tried it, but it looks promising. It is probably based on N131BU.

But, Kaby Lake Refresh was released, and it looks to be better suited for my needs. There's a Clevo N131WU. Are you going to offer Lafité III with Intel 8th gen CPUs? Also, the optional thunderbolt would be great.

Already sent inquiries to PCSPECIALIST about it, hopefully the updated N131WU will become available in October.

PCS are usually quite quick to get new products in. With Ryzen and Skylake-X for example they were open for orders as quickly as everyone else was.

The availability of Kaby Lake Refresh may not be something even they can give a definite answer to, however, as I'm not sure a specific date in October has been publicised by Intel yet? Plus it will also depend on how quickly the new chassis is available from Clevo. The Coffee Lake -S series is launching on October 5th, not sure if that also applies to Kaby Refresh or not.

I'll just wait until PCS or some else company (HP, Dell, Lenovo) comes with such laptop: Intel 8th gen cpu, m.2 and 2.5" drives, display port and HDMI outputs, and no nvidia gpu, and decent keyboard.

From my research only PCSPECIALIST has a match for these requirements at a reasonable price. Can't wait for the refreshed Lafité, will order two as soon as it's available. Intel should start shipping Kaby Lake R in September, and PCSPECIALIST support told me to look out for October time. ;)

You're right about availability of laptops matching such requirements. Actually, just DisplayPort with MST should be fine. But I'm worried about keyboard quality of PC Specialist Lafité III. Good keyboard is must have, because my PC usage includes a lot of typing.

I'm sure the keyboard of the Lafité will do, for me it's most important that it's backlit, but I use a full size keyboard + mouse + monitor at my working desk, so this is only when on the go.

I have just found HP G5 ProBook-s 450, 440, 430 (1LU55AV_MB, 1MJ74AV_MB, 1LR32AV_MB), and they match my requirements. Instead of DisplayPort thay have got USB-C supporting DisplayPort alternate mode (at least, that's what spec say).

But, these ProBook-s are 15~20% more expensive, than PC Specialist Lafité III, when configured similarly: FullHD display, 7200U/8250U, 1x8GB DDR4 RAM, 128GB m.2 SSD, 1TB HDD, without OS.

I would like to see PC Specialist Lafité III with 8th-gen Intel CPU.

Well. I have changed my mind, and I won't buy Lafité III, because it doesn't have a spill resistant keyboard.

I just want to be protected against accidental water spill. I don't want my 1000€ investment to end up because of some accident like that. So, I will go with HP ProBook or HP EliteBook.

Rather than spending 15-20% more have you checked your home insurance policies? My contents cover includes accidental damage to my laptop in or out of the home in most cases.

Well, I don't own any house / flat, yet. So, I don't have any home insurance. But, I'm pretty sure, that in our country would no insurance company offer something like that. They even have problem to cover damage causes some of natural causes,... Covering accidental damage caused by human, well, no way... However, I don't blame them, mentality of people in my country is often based on gaining for free. So, such insurance would have been very misused.

Luckily I never had any spilling problem, I keep any liquid in a decent distance to my laptop. Just took a look at the HP website, but I'm definitely going to wait for the Lafité IV for several reasons:

1. Price
2. Intel 8th Gen
3. It has to be an Ultrabook
4. I want to configure it exactly the way I want
5. I'm not going to pay a Microsoft Tax
