New PC gamer - advice for a newbie

Hi all

I've been a console gamer all my life but I'm finally considering taking the plunge and getting a gaming PC and could really do with some advice.

In terms of budget I was ideally thinking around the £750 mark for the tower itself. I know I'll also need to get a mouse and keyboard - but would I be able to use a 22 inch 1080p TV if I get a PC that comes with HMDI? Or do TVs and PCs not go well together/completely incompatible?

In terms of spec I'm open to suggestions, I don't have any particular requirements but will be playing the likes of PUBG. I had in my head a GTX 1060 but that seems to inflate the price, and I don't know if the 3gb vs 6gb is a noticeable difference in performance.

I have seen ADMI builds get good reviews on Amazon, and the 2 below grabbed my attention. Does anyone have any thoughts on these or suggest alternatives?

Thanks!

As the forums belong to PC Specialist who build and sell custom PCs and laptops, users aren't encouraged to give advice on non PCS systems.

There are 2 things I would say though
1) I'm so glad PC Specialist seem to have stopped selling AMD FX-series garbage. Those CPUs make sense as a budget option in 2012. Maybe. Since about 2015, however, they've not really been the best choices for gaming and there are a lot of posts on this forum showing how.

2) The i5 7400 is not a good buy any more. It always was the slowest of the Intel Kaby Lake i5s, and has been rendered obsolete by AMD's Ryzen lineup and Intel's Coffee Lake CPUs. It has no real headroom for future GPU upgrades and more demanding titles down the line. I think I said something siilar to someone else who was considering an i5 7400 today on these forums as it happens.

If you could aim for around £800 you could get an Intel 8th Gen CPU like the i5 8400 that is a lot better and more futureproof than the i5 7400.

You could also hold off until early next year and see if Ryzen Refresh and the cheaper Coffee Lake motherboards and new CPUs coming out bring anything with similar performance to a lower price level.
