Octane IV Short Review

Hello guys !
I've received my Octave IV a couple days ago and I am purely impressed.
The machine is equipped with an intel I7 8700K, a GTX 1080 8GB, 32 GB of ram, 1 TB SSD and a 1080p 120hz screen.
So far I've played Assassin's Creed Origins on it and I am absolutely impressed. The game runs at the highest settings in 60 fps constantly. The cooling system on this laptop is absolutely marvelous as well.
I just gotta say, this laptop is perfect for me ! Solid and powerful.

What version of the 1080 gtx does the Octane come with? Asus, MSI? etc

It's custom made for the Chassis, so Clevo. It's a laptop GTX1080, a little less powerful than a desktop version.

Laptops don't have desktop versions of the GTX 1080 - any laptop with a 1080 will have the "laptop" one. Nvidia used to differentiate mobile and desktop GPUs by putting M in the name (e.g. GTX 970M) but stopped for this generation.

Ah I see.

While on the subject of the Octane, there are two M.2 SSD Drive slots but the configurator only offers 1 M.2 card? Does the laptop actually have one or two slots?

There are 2 M.2 SSD slots in the configurator. Click the "Show additional storage options" button just below the 2nd HDD option.

I don't have this option on any laptop config. Only desktop setups.

Sorry, must have had the wrong tab open, you're quite right

I'd suggest phoning PCS to ask why they're not offering a 2nd M.2 SSD

Hi everyone!

May I ask how are temperatures faring after heavy usage of these beasts? I'd suppose they'd be quite hot, specially in the CPU, considering they're desktop version and not delided with liquid metal.

Thank you, considering buying one myself with the same CPU + Gfx card!
