Good morning, 1st post so hi all.

My son has always wanted a gaming pc so for his 16th we have decided to get him one. Trouble is been a lifelong console gamer I feel a bit out of my depth.

What can you more knowledgeable people recommend.

Budget of £1000, monitor, keyboard and mouse not required but he dose want to be playing AAA titles, cod, battlefield, pubg, fortnight ECT.

Thanks in advance

This PC should definitely get nice framerates at 1080p and has a great gaming processor that is liquid cooled for better performance, and to top it off, A GTX 1060, which is a great 1080p gaming graphics card.

Thanks for using the PCS Forums, hope your son has a great birthday :)

Hi and welcome to the fora :)

For you budget, I would suggest the enigma elite review build. Priced at spot on £1000. With the newest i5 processor (i5 8400) and a solid graphics card (GTX 1060 6GB) to handle 1080P on high/ ultra settings with ease. It also contains 16Gb of RAM and a fast storage configuration.
If you manually configured the spec it would be about £1130.

As to the post above it shows how good value the enigma elite is! It has a better processor as well as a better graphics card. And also a CPU cooler to suit your needs. This turns out cheaper for a better performance!

Engima Elite not only has an NVMe SSD as well as 1TB HDD, it also has double the RAM.

Go with the Enigma Elite.

It's about £1130's worth of spec for a fixed £1k price, so essentially you're not going to beat it from a value point of view at this price range.

Just before I get carried away and order will this be able to run oculus rift? Also I see some say rgb ready what dose this mean?

RGB usually refers to RGB LEDs, which are small lights that can produce a range of colours for effect. It's just shiny lights. It's not like a TV that is "HD ready" where that actually means it can display a certain sort of content.

It exceeds the 'recommended' spec for the Occulus Rift: https://support.oculus.com/170128916778795/ although bear in mind that VR gaming is more demanding than regular 1080p gaming, as it involves a higher resolution and refresh rate. So it'll do it, but some more demanding titles will not run at very high settings.

Compare the system requirements for Fallout 4: http://store.steampowered.com/app/377160/Fallout_4/ (GTX 780)
With Fallout 4 VR: http://store.steampowered.com/app/611660/Fallout_4_VR/ (GTX 1080)
Granted recommended specs should be taken with large quantities of NaCl. But it's illustrative of VR gaming being a good deal more demanding. A £1000 system might not live up to your highest hopes with a £500 VR setup.

Will give vr a moss then we have psvr anyway so no big loss.

Dose of have to be rgb ready to light up keyboards and a mouse or dose they come with there own software to achieve that?

Note that some cheap RGB mice won't have software that lets you control the light pattern, it just does what it's been pre-set to do. Make sure you check how what you buy works first, if the lighting is important

The RGB / LED lighting control, as well as bindings etc, on that won't have anything to do with the kind of motherboard the PC has. You should get the full functionality that the software offers as far as I know.
