Unable to change screen brightness on Defiance Laptop

I've had my Defiance series laptop for almost two months, and ever since it's arrival I've not been able to adjust the brightness of the screen. At first, when I pressed the hot-keys, a graphic would display indicating that the setting for the brightness was changing, corresponding to what I was pressing, but the brightness wouldn't change. Likewise, If I went to Control Panel or Settings in Windows 10, and adjust the slider there, nothing would change.

I raised a ticket, and they told me that it was a "software issue" and that I would have to wait. Since then, the tech guys here sent a link to an update for the Clevo software, but the only thing that changed was that the hot-keys for the brightness now don't even display the graphic anymore.

So my questions are: Has everyone one whose purchased a laptop from PC Specialist having the same issue? If it's a "Software Issue" then why do the native Windows 10 settings also not do anything to change the brightness? Has anyone found a solution to this? If I want to be able to control the brightness on my laptop, shall I just give up, get a refund and buy a new one somewhere else?

Please find steps below to solve the issue with the brightness:

Go to Task Scheduler > ‘Action’ Tab > Create task

This will open a dialogue box. Add a name, tick the open to ‘Run with the Highest Privileges’ and Select ‘Windows 10’ under the ‘Configure for:’ open.

Next, go to the ‘Triggers’ tab and change the ‘Begin the task’ open to ‘At log on’.

Next, go to the ‘Actions’ tab and browse to the Hotkey software (C:\Program Files (x86)\Hotkey), selecting the auxswitch.exe program.

Go to the ‘Conditions’ tab, untick the options to ‘Start the task only if the computer is on AC power’ and ‘Stop if the computer switches to battery power’.

Finally, click ‘OK’ and restart your computer. Once this has restarted, check to see if the brightness can now be changed.

I look forward to hearing how you get on. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Actually, could you guide us on how to keep this Task running even after a screen standby for example?
If my screen turns off, when the logon screen appears, the brightness is back to full, and after logging in with my fingerprint, the Task is not running, the brightness is back to 100%, and I have to run the task again ..

If there's something that we can do, aside from never turning off the display, would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.
