Best monitor for my build, sub £300

Hi all.

I'm looking for advice as to the best monitor I can get, within a £300 budget, for the computer I'm planning to buy from PC Specialist. I'd like to find the optimal monitor which will be able to get the full benefit of the graphics card in the new build, but not so fancy that my graphics card can't access it well enough to show the benefits of said fanciness!

Ideally I'd like it to have tilt adjustment, as well as height adjustment if possible. 26" to 30" screen (with 30" being the absolute max). I'm equally open to buying it from PC Specialist or elsewhere, whichever option gives me the best value for money. I've had a look around myself, but I'm not sure which would be best (60mhz, 120 mhz, 144mhz refresh etc).

I've included the build for the desktop below. It will predominantly be a gaming PC: World of Warcraft, Civ 6, GTA V, Planet Coaster, Shadow of War, Total War Warhammer 2 etc.

Thanks very much in advance

Hal.

You can get 1080p 144hz gaming monitors for ~£200 like the AOC G2460PF that are height etc adjustable

Hello again! Are you aware of anything that offers similar but with a slightly bigger screen?

Just to further my understanding, am I right in thinking I wouldn't get any use from the AMD freesync feature on that and other monitors with an NVIDIA gpu?

EDIT: AOC G2770PF or AOC U2879VF seem like reasonable options? If they can be sourced within budget!

You don't get the freesync part, but you get the high refresh etc

U2879VF is 4k and the 1080 with struggle with many games at that res at higher settings.

That G2770PF might be an option if you want 27" and 1080p. Suggest googling reviews:

And buying from a store where you're happy with the returns policy in case there are any issue (excessive bleed, dead pixels, etc).

Thanks Oussebon. What is your feeling on the AOC G2460PG? Smaller screen than I was thinking, but comes with G-sync (which seems to be thought of as beneficial with the GTX-1080) and can be gotten under budget from Novatech.

I'm torn between that and the G2770PF. The former has G-Sync, the latter a larger screen. Both look to be 1080, with the 144mhz refresh.

Gsync,as you've seen is more expensive.

If spending £500 on a monitor then another ~£100 for gsync makes a lot of sense in my opinion (if one is already going with an Nvidia GPU).

But paying around £300 for a monitor that's otherwise very similar to one at £200 without gsync (i.e. 50% extra) doesn't seem great to me. In fact it seems like a bit of a ripoff.

Up to you ultimately. I probably wouldn't go for 1080p over 27" as the pixel density might be a bit borderline. But it's totally personal preference... and would depend on all kinds of things like how far the monitor is away from you too.
