Good evening

Tomorrow I hope to receive my new PC from PC Specialists. I'm looking forward to it. I've chosen now to get a new PC as I'm part way through my MSc and fear my current PC dying mid-dissertation.

Since I'm sure there are a few geeks on here I present my computer history. It'll give you an idea of my age but mainly I think I'll raise a smile

- 386SX 20
- 386SX 33
- Pentium 75
- Pentium 233MMX
- Athlon 1100
- Core 2 Duo (I forget the speed, maybe 2.4)

Hello and welcome! :)

I can guess your age, but you're nowt but a nipper! ;)

I was building microcomputers long before even the Sinclair ZX80 (yes, I had one of those too). Back in those days the 'operating system' was an EPROM that really just contained a BASIC interpreter (and I've written one of those too). Interestingly I built several microcomputers back then, some based around the Motorola 6502 chip (on which Apple machines were later based) and several on the Intel 8080 and Zilog Z80 chips (on which IBM PCs were later based). My first 'proper' pre-built computer was a Research Machines 380Z running CP/M.

Happy days....
