Looks like AMD's offering is going to be more than credible. Intel did demo their 28 core beast at 5GHz, but were using a 1000W water chiller to achieve that frequency. People have pointed out that it's one of their Xeons with the multiplier unlocked and I've seen people speculate the price might be about $10,000.
