Ethernet Port Replacement

Hi
A couple of weeks ago my Ethernet port gave up after an electrical storm. Computer working but adsl hub and Ethernet connection knackered. adsl hub replaced by BT but not sure where I get a replacement Ethernet port from?

Purchased my pc from pcspecialist a few years back - think it's an intel 10/100/1000 gigabit or something but as shown on photo below seems to be quite a big think with a load of other ports and connections as well.

Can anyone tell me what I need and where I can get it? Does pcspecialist do spare parts?
Thanks

Second Jerpers - and I've used TP-Link NIC's in machines before with no problems at all.

No point paying more.

One additional point - I'd pop the side panel off your PC and just make sure you actually have a spare PCI slot...it's possible you might need a PCIe card.

Thanks for your responses - here's the inside of my PC - where would the PCI slot be and do I have one?!
Thanks

Thanks - and it just plugs in to one of my USB3 ports? As simple as that?

Yes. The one I have is quite clever - when you first plug it in, it appears as a small CD drive to install the drivers. Then the CD drive disappears and the network card is usable.

But they're basically designed to be plug and play.

I saw this topic yesterday and the USB adapter didn't occur to me, despite the fact I own and use a uGreen USB 3.0 network adapter(!). I've been very happy with mine. I don't think it even came with any drivers, I seem to recall it plugging and playing.

Embarrassingly, I too use one on some of my slimline laptops that don't have Ethernet ports and it never occurred to me, either!

Lols, the only reason I thought of it was they were the go to device for secondary networks on cheap base stations in an old job.

They used to be quite problematic but nowadays their rock solid.

Nope. Not stupid. You've asked very good questions, followed up on responses and requests for more detail with, e.g., good pictures.

"Stupid" is the kind of question asked along the lines of "My computer is broke. How do I fix it?"

I always give the example that you wouldn't take your car to a garage and say the same thing so why do it with computers? Details, what you've tried etc all help.

You don't learn if you don't ask. I've spent over 25 years in I.T. but I haven't done hardware for about 21 of them, so guys like Oussebon knock me into touch and I always enjoy reading his - and others' - responses and always learn from them. (Mind you I then forget just just as quickly!).

Operating Systems - and especially servers - plus that new fangled cloud malarky (I hate the term "cloud" by the way) is my comfort zone.

*cough cough* It was jerpers who said he felt stupid, not the OP!

But yes, very good engagement from wizzer. :)
