Any Optimus IX review ?

Hello,

I'm searching for an Optimus IX review, to help me make my choice.

Any Optimus IX review ? Or even a review here in the forum by a member, that I would've missed ?

Thanks in advance

I remember you saying you ruled out the Vyper but in a stroke of Lols there is actually a Vyper review out there:
https://www.vortez.net/articles_pages/pc_specialist_vyper_15_review,1.html

I believe the Optimuses are the:
OPTIMUS IX 15.6" N850EK1
OPTIMUS IX 17.3" N871EK1

And I couldn't find a review of either on google

Someone did get Ubuntu 18.04 working on it: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/foru...c-Beaver-installation-on-Optimus-IX-15-6-quot
This user is struggling with Clevo Control Centre: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/foru...nd-Hotkey-problems/page2&highlight=Optimus+IX

You could try asking how they find the screen quality and so forth, though their perspectives on the laptops may not help with what you're looking for - since one is using it for Linux and one doesn't have a working CCC which can also make certain features not work properly.

Also as I said above if you google the clevo chassis you may find a video or article online where someone has done a teardown and a review of the chassis. Whether an N850EK1 is PCS branded or has another company's branding, it's still the same chassis and will still have the same heatpipes/cooling etc

I have yet read this article, but it dont shows rear of notebook, so we can say how much heat pipe it has... and also i want to try the combo gtx 1060 + i5 8300 instead 1050+8750

however the noise is good with the combo 8750+1050:
Idle 31 / 32 / 44 dB(A)
HDD 32 dB(A)
Load 44 / 46 dB(A)

i think that combo 8300+1060 maye can be more silent and with more better result in gaming
maybe a little undervolt can help
