World of Warcraft Survey

Hello gamers,

I'm a student and part of an Australian research team aiming to explore several aspects of the World of Warcraft experience, including immersion and Proteus effect. Gaming is a part of many people's lives, yet there are many gaps in the research that need to be addressed. We hope that this study will be published and contribute practically, as there are implications for our understanding of Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD) and the development of E-therapies.

If you would like to help us with our study please complete the following link: https://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/4359...er-behaviours-among-World-of-Warcraft-Players

It should not take long (half an hour max) as the questions are pretty simple.

Thanks for your time and happy gaming!

It's technically again the forum rules to 'Advertise or promote products and/or services that you or someone you know has an "interest" in' and IMO that's what you're doing here. However (and again in my personal opinion) this seems to be a 'not for profit' exercise and is probably of interest to many on here so I think we can allow it, unless we get complaints of course.

I see that you say...

The research is not likely to distress you. However, the researchers understand that some questions may be sensitive. Should you require support during or after the study, please contact the support agencies shown below.

...and all those agencies are in Australia. Perhaps you might provide the contact details of similar agencies in the UK, which is where PCS are based and where most of the forum members reside?

I also see that you say...

Once the theses arising from this research have been completed, a brief summary of the findings will be made available to you upon request. It is important to reaffirm that the results will not include any information that identifies you.

...and I think most of those on here who choose to contribute would be very interested in your findings, so would you please be sure to post 'a brief summary of the findings' on here when the study is complete?

Thanks! :)

All very reasonable points. Mental health is definitely a big issue in the UK just as it is elsewhere, so here are some good support services:

Samaritans: 116 123 - this hotline is free, operates 24/7 and does not restrict their services to according to problem/denominations. They also have a Welsh hotline. Email [email protected] or visit https://www.samaritans.org/

Papyrus Hopeline: 0800 068 41 41 - 10AM-10PM on weekdays, 2PM-10PM on weekends. This organization caters more specifically to youth suicide. Email [email protected] or visit https://www.papyrus-uk.org/

The Silver Line: 0800 4 70 80 90 - another 24/7 hotline, this one caters to those of you who are older. Visit https://www.thesilverline.org.uk/

Regarding the results, I will post them in this thread when we are done in a few months :)
