New User - Need some advice

So, I'm a youtuber / livestreamer (I know... another one of these plebs right :sweatdrop:).

Basically I need one simple question answered. All-in-one, or desktop?
I don't play PC games, but I use video and photo editing software. That's it.

I've heard All-in-ones are decent, but the problem is you're kinda knackered if something goes wrong.

Is there anyone here with experience of livestreaming / video editing (PS4 pro console) that can advise on what's best.

I'd likely be running Sony Vegas and Adobe Photoshop.

Cheers all

The All in Ones PCS offer are essentially chassis for regular desktop (well, mini ITX) components. So in principle if the motherboard kicks it outside of warranty, you can replace that at a cost of £100 or whatever, rather than having to buy a whole new system.

Unlike say with a laptop where you might need to buy a new system if some components died. Or at least it wouldn't be cost-effective to have it repaired out of warranty.

It's possible other companies do AIOs that have laptop-like components in them where the CPU and GPU are soldered onto the motherboard and if it dies outside of warranty then you might be in big trouble.

Obviously if the screen dies on any AIO that's going to be a lot more inconvenient than with a desktop PC where you just go to the shops and buy a new monitor.

I wouldn't recommend an AIO for most people, however, as you're limiting yourself a lot more for upgrade and component choices due to everything needing to fit into what's ultimately a very fat monitor.

If you're video editing with that software you will probably want a GPU. In which case the only option PCS offer that has one is the Fusion Curve.

If you indicate a budget, and any other specific needs for the system, people can suggest desktop and AIO options for you to consider.

Cheers for the reply. Honestly, so long as it does what I need it to do, which is predominantly editing, cost bares no significance. I'd say I'd probably limit my spend to £2'000 as I don't think I could convince the other half that spending more than that on a PC is a fruitful endeavour.

EDIT:
Additionally, is there a major difference in AMD / Intel?

Plus ~£250-400 for a 4k monitor. You're not gaming on it so having a Gsync monitor doesn't matter, making your options broader and cheaper.

AMD's Ryzen CPUs are very good. The R7 2700x offers higher multithreaded performance than an i7 8700k.

However, the i8 8700k has integrated graphics that adobe premiere pro can leverage to give it a huge performance boost:
https://www.gamersnexus.net/guides/3310-adobe-premiere-benchmarks-rendering-8700k-gpu-vs-ryzen
So I'd probably recommend that on balance.

In terms of AIo vs regular PC, I'd strongly recommend PC. For the upgrade options, and because you can add things like a PCIe capture card like an Elgato Pro, whereas the AIO has no vacant expansion slots.

Also you can get the CPU overclocked as in the spec I posted above which further boosts performance, which could shave some minutes off your render, depending on the workload, etc..
