Here's the spec's for Total War 2.

https://www.totalwar.com/blog/total-war-warhammer-ii-system-specs

If its not too late I think you need more RAM and a bigger hard drive. The spec's say 8GB, and that really is the minimum any machine should have these days. Especially with any photo or video editing, you'll find 4GB hampers you a great deal. Also, it's a big game, it's saying 60GB. After Windows and that are installed you're going to be hard pushed to add anything else, certainly not high res photos or videos.

It'll completely depend on your budget though really.

Hi

I have upgraded to 8GB Ram :)

Also have a 1tb external Hard drive and intend do stick another SSD in not long after i get the laptop.

Think this will run the games ok?

Thanks for your reply

What's your budget and how much does the above spec cost?

I suspect the Vyper chassis would be a better bet for gaming.

What SSD do you intend to put in the laptop? Is it one you already own? If so, what?

Hi

That build comes to £880, thats with the 8gb ram, and 256GB SSD.

Thats also the top end of my budget unfortunately. Why would the Vyper Chassis improve this? heat distribution? I have read a few threads that state the Optimus has good heat dis but if you know something more on this?

How will this spec that i currently have on order perform at RTS such as total war rome 2 etc?

Thanks
Chris

£880, is that not including Windows or something? I try speccing an Optimus up with 8GB RAM and a 240gb+ SSD and it seems to be over £900.

The reason I suggest the Vyper is that it offers an i5 8300H CPU, which is a lot cheaper, and could let you squeeze in a GTX 1060.

Modern total war titles are extremely demanding on the GPU and a GTX 1060 will give a much better experience overall than a 1050 ti. Plus the GPU will become a bigger bottleneck for future titles much faster than the CPU.

You are correct sir, i booted windows out (i can deal with that myself)

Ill have a look into the Vyper now, do you think the optimus will struggle to keep 60fps on those titles?

Thanks

My nan's toaster can probably handle Shogun 2 reasonably well. The 1050 ti can (probably?) max out or push very high on Rome 2. My old GTX 670 was maxed out by that title and a 670 is not all that far off a 1050 ti for performance.

But for anything more modern like Attila, Warhammer 1, 2, Britannia (and presumably WH 3, Three Kingdoms, and all future titles) a GTX 1060 will be strongly preferable to a 1050 ti.

So something like:
