PC reboots or BSOD when trying to boot into Windows installation

Hello everyone,

I have recently build a pc from used parts and the pc is driving me crazy. If i try to boot into the Windows installation (i tried from Windows XP to Windows 10) i get a bluescreen with the error message "UNEXPECTED KERNEL MODE TRAP" or it just restarts with no error message. I have downloaded Ubuntu 18.04, installed it with some Parameters (acpi=off, noapic, nolapic, edd=on, nodmraid, nomodeset) and the installation worked perfectly fine. I have also tried various partition schemes for the bootable USB such as GPT, MBR etc. and i Updated the BIOS the newest version (3.40)

PC Specs:

-Asrock P67 Pro3 BIOS version 3.40

-Intel Core i7 2600 3.4 GHz

-Samsung 16 GB DDR3 1600 MHz

-AMD R9 380 4GB GDDR5

-2TB Western Digital Black 5400 RPM

Thank you very much in advance!

As pcs sell custom desktops and laptops we can’t advise on self builds or competitor builds, you may want to check out Toms hardware which is an open forum.

The BSOD Doctor
As above, though I would add that this BSOD is generally caused by a mismatch of components, which really means that your 'used parts' are not compatible with each other. Building a PC is way more involved than just plugging stuff in.
